This season we've avoided a big gap in the championship caused the T20 by playing the T20 throughout the season. And instead have a big gap in the championship for the 50 over competition to be played. Madness! And it's played on random days of the week, so anyone that works won't be able to attend!

Also why in the T20 do we only play some teams once and others twice? Surely that means some teams have an advantage due to who they only play once.

Yes, this is the problem with the new t20 format-the whole thing loses a lot of credibility.
Apparently the mid-season CC gap is because the research ( fan survey & Morgan report)recommended the new 50 over comp( the catchily titled Royal London One-day Cup) be played during the school summer holidays.
Shoe-horning the CC fixtures into the first and last part of the season has been the biggest problem regarding fixtures over the past few seasons-I ( foolishly) hoped the new structure would lead to a more even spread of CC games throughout the season.

I completed that survey and don't recollect given any preference about school holiday fixtures. We were given very limited choices which fitted in with ECB's prepared agenda. Midsummer still devoid of any CC fixtures.
On unrelated issue Cook confirmed on LookNorth tonight that he'll be continuing as head coach and Benks will definitely be back for start of season.

No home T20 matches on a weekend for Kent.

25% of club cricket in England is played in Yorkshire and Lancashire, so what do the ECB do? Schedule the Lancashire v Yorkshire 50 over game on a Saturday afternoon

Not only that - some teams may be at a disadvantage due to who they have to play twice. Still, it's only Twenty20.

It's surely possible to fit in 2 extra days of fixtures to ensure equality by each team playing each other home and away.
The 50 over competition is even more bizarre. The entire league fixture list is compressed into 18 days with Durham having to travel to the South or Wales on 4 occasions in 8days! The day after they complete the programme at home they have to be at Old Trafford the next day for a championship fixture. Ridiculous.

I assume that's tongue in cheek but unfortunately we've got a very small squad.

There is some scope for the 50 over matches to be played during the summer holidays.

The final set of YB40 fixtures were played mid-week, went to watch Yorkshire play Unicorns at Headingley on a Tuesday in August and the turnout was quite good (approx 4000), considering the fixture was a dead rubber and more so Yorkshire fielded a weakened side. Compared to the same fixture in 2012, played on a Sunday and Yorkshire still had a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals the attendance was more than half less.

Given that we now alllow non-Yorkshire born players to play for Yorkshire, it is good news that we have captured the services of Finch, in all formats, for the coming season.
