Commiserations to CF90, I believe the solitary Essex fan on this forum. Fabulous run of something like 6 wins out of their last 7 games. If it wasn't for Ajmal they would be taking their rightful place in div one with us.

I'm glad to see it was spell from Tommo which secured it for us.

Not only has he been part of the squad for a while now, but also, unlike a lot of the other guys, he hasn't really been able to experience the limited overs successes in recent years. I'm sure he's been over the moon at us winning these limited trophies, but no doubt he feels like this is the first one which he can truly celebrate and feel apart of.

Hampshire kept us guessing until the end with first innings batting collapses in their last 2 matches - but each time there were superb recoveries which meant valuable unexpected batting points & a draw (that gave us a vital margin of 10 points) & a win.
Typical that we could have been either Champions or 3rd but not runners-up which is what we've been when promoted in the past. (Bournemouth on the other hand looked like being champions last year & then after 8 successive wins only drew & a freak result elsewhere meant they were runners-up).

A couple of stats:
Hampshire had 50 (fifty) batting points - the most in either division.
Worcs had the maximun 3 bowling points in every match - except the last one v Essex.

Tommo says that yesterday was his best time at Hants since the penultimate match of the 2010 season against Kent when Hants knew they were staying up!
[Of course they went down the following year!]

I see that James Vince couldn't get into the PCA team of 2014, let alone the England set up.

It seems his 1500+ runs weren't enough to dislodge Sam Hain and Rikki Wessels from the side. Sam Hain's 800 runs being far more worthy, seemingly, whilst Wessels 1200 runs were so important that they were completely unable to prevent his team's utter capitulation during the title run in

Not sure what the lad has to do to get recognition for his achievements. It isn't even a div 2 thing, because Mitchell, Billings and Hogan made the side

Not to mention Smith too.

So long as England stay away, and Dawson rediscovers his form from recent years pre his injury this season, then I have no fears over our batting next season. It is all about improving the bowling. Hopefully Andre Adams will just be the start of that.

For the first 3 months of next season, then he's retiring and moving into coaching work.
