i'd like to see him play one more year, would hate for him to completely go into coaching when he is still good enough to play and lead the Lancs attack..

He's the only player to have been playing as long as Durham have been a first class county.

We should get rid of the Coach title, and just let Giles oversee everything. Chapple should either play or retire, this half and half isn't doing anyone any favours.

Surely a bowler of Chapple' s pedigree has a lot to offer on the coaching front. In most instances transition from player to coach is a gradual process with the player combining the roles as he takes his coaching certificates. Colly, Breese and Killeen in the past have taken that route at Durham and the coaching set up there can't be faulted.

I've yet to see any such impact from Chapple at OT.

Newby is the next one to be given the boot. Bit of a shame to see him go as he's a fine bowler. Still, it's slightly amazing he's hung around so long, 12 years on the sidelines is a long time.

Delighted to see Haseeb Hameed getting a contract, the lad is a serious talent. Matthew Parkinson is a very talented leg spinner, though probably needs some more time in the seconds to develop. Don't know much about Mahmood though.

Promoting from within works if the club has a platform of success and continuity. An outsiders approach is needed in order for Lancashire to move forward and Giles has some form of proven success with Warwickshire and England.

Very true, AP. Next season is going to be tough, hopefully we'll give Hameed a starting bearth and Horton the arm band.

Still looking for that big signing, not entirely confident it will come.

Kabir Ali released. I don't think that I knew that he was Moeen's cousin.

A signing based more on hope than expectation. Much like Tahir and now Buck, we seem incapable of thinking that if a player has a long injury record, they're probably going to be injured in the future.

Had his moments for us, but is not going to be missed. Good to see us cutting the dead weight over the last two seasons, hopefully it will be backed up with some decent signings.

Yes it makes sense to release him I think.
