LVCCd2 - Winners, hopefully promotion at worst
T20 - Finals Day
Pro50 -Winners

Alviro Patterson wrote:Who will be the key player and why?

Kyle Abbott - a strike bowler, key ingredient we have lacked for a few years

( hard to only pick 1 though )

Alviro Patterson wrote:Who will be top run scorer?

Michael Carberry

Alviro Patterson wrote:Who will be top wicket taker?

Matt Coles

Alviro Patterson wrote:Which youngster will emerge?

Probably None

Alviro Patterson wrote:Biggest weakness?

Lack of a quality spinner, Briggs doesn't quite cut it in FC cricket ( yet )

Alviro Patterson wrote:Biggest Strengths?

Seamers, Abbott and Coles joining Tommo could be formidable

Alviro Patterson wrote:Player you hope will do well?

Liam Dawson - doesn't get the credit that Vince gets, despite being equally talented

Adam Wheater - seems every time he succeeds its expected of him, and when he doesn't hes a monster who robbed Bates' spot.

How do you think your county will do in each major competition?
CC D2 - 2nd
T20 - Runners up
OD - Winners

Who will be the key player and why?
I think Carberry will be a key player at the top of the order this season with his experiences over the winter and will hopefully provide a solid base in most games.

Who will be top run scorer?
I'll go for James Vince here closely followed by Carberry, I think this could be his season.

Who will be top wicket taker?
I'd guess Kyle Abbot however if we're talking English players then I think Matt Coles looks a decent signing.

Which youngster will emerge?
We don't really have any (or at least space for them) at the moment as we seemed to have the boom of youngsters 2 or 3 seasons ago.

Biggest weakness?
I think our mid-low order batting is perhaps a bit weaker than the rest as well as our failure to take late crucial wickets in CC.

Biggest Strengths?
As Powelly said, our seamers look quite strong in general as well as the amount of bowling options we have in OD/T20 cricket with the likes of Ervine,Dawson,Maxwell and Vince probably all getting into the team.

Player you hope will do well?
I hope Briggs can come on in FC cricket as he's been doing really well in the other formats in the last couple of seasons but just needs to push on a bit. Dawson is someone I hope does well as he is personally in my opinion now a key player in the team shown by him opening the bowler in T20 cricket sometimes this year as well as being a perfect innings builder when required (and I think he has the potential to fill the gap left by Neil McKenzie in the batting).

How do you think your county will do in each major competition?

County Championship
Top 3, would love to say Yorkshire will win it but there is no pressure on paper.

T20 Blast
Quarter Finals

50 Over
Quarter Finals

Who will be the key player and why?
Aaron Finch - not just for the Twenty20 but also for County Championship where is not as prolific in red ball cricket. Not expecting him to score lots of County Championship runs but if his natural style of play keeps the pressure off Adam Lyth and Alex Lees, who go on to score big, then it's a job well done.

Who will be top run scorer?
Very tough question, depends on which players end up in the England squad. I'll go with Adam Lyth on the basis he is less likely to represent England in any format.

Who will be top wicket taker?
CC - Jack Brooks
T20 Blast - Rich Pyrah
50 over - Adil Rashid

Which youngster will emerge?
Jack Leaning - has a taste of 1st XI experience, hoping he'll kick on like Bairstow, Ballance, Root and Lees have done.

Biggest weakness?
Batsmen not consistent enough in clearing the ropes. Gale, Bairstow and Ballance are capable hitters but are prone to eating up balls.

Biggest Strengths?
Bowling department, Yorkshire could field two separate attacks and they wouldn't look out of place.

Player you hope will do well?
Alex Lees - I think he has massive potential not just in County Championship cricket but also in limited overs.

LVCCd1 - Will do well to avoid relegation.
T20 - Quarter finals
Pro50 -Quarter finals

Stephen Peters in CC. Need runs at the top of the order.
Graeme White in shortened format. Need wickets in the middle.

How do you think your county will do in each major competition?

CC D2 - 5th
T20 - Quarter Finals
OD - Group Phase

Who will be top wicket taker?

Doug Bollinger.

Which youngster will emerge?

Adam Riley.

Biggest weakness?

Lack of bowling firepower.

Biggest Strengths?

Our reliable middle order.

LVCC: Mid table 1st Division
T20: Semi Final
Pro50: Group stages

Key player: Glen Chapple.

Glen needs no explanation, he is a titan, nay a legend of the game. Easy the best bowler never to play Test cricket for England.

Top run scorer: Reece. The boy will go far.

Top Wicket taker: Toss up between Kerrigan and Hogg depending on England selection and the weather.

Young player: Reece, see above.

Biggest weakness: The keeper if Buttler starts for England this summer, if not the batting aside from Reece, Kat and Prince.

Biggest strength: The bowling. Ali, Chaps, Kerri and Hogg on form are second to none, aside from Onions.

Player I hope will do well: Hogg. Easily the most talented cricketer at the Red Rose. When Kyle takes wickets we tend to win!

How do you think your county will do in each major competition?

County Championship
Mid to lower mid table. we just don't have any depth in the squad any more. Should avoid any real relegation worries, but we need at least 3 wins in April and May to be sure. If we don't get those wins then all bets will be off

T20 Blast
group. maybe Q/Fs. Hastings would need to play a blinder to get us past the Q/Fs

50 Over
QF's if indeed there is a QF stage. Group stages if there are only S/Fs

Who will be the key player and why?
Collingwood
captaincy
If we lose Colly to injury or England we might very well be stuffed. There are no other Durham players with the tactical nouse of Colly.... hell, there won't be many on the whole county circuit

Who will be top run scorer?
CC Good luck with that one. If Stoneman and Borthwick have poor seasons at the top of the order we might end up leaving our bowlers too much to do, far too often... colly or no colly
50 keep one eye on Gordon Muchall as long as he doesn't lose too much confidence if he ends up having to play a fair bit of CC cricket
20 Always Phil Mustard... no brainer

Who will be top wicket taker?
CC should be Onions, but I have a feeling he will end up being away a fair bit, if not with England, then carrying drinks or dashing back up the M1, or bulking out the lions teams. If it isn't Onions then it will have to be Chris Rushworth or we are stuffed again. There are an awful lot of 'stuffed' scenario's which are perfectly possible/likely
50 Rushy usually
20 usually Borthwick, so we probably need Hastings to top that list (a season econ under 10 would be a novelty for us too)

Which youngster will emerge?
Usman Arshad could have a real chance to shine in the absence of Stokes courtesy of his outright stupidity and then England (if his outright stupidity hasn't scuppered his chances). Benny Arshad could well get a lot more opportunities this season than he might have dreamed possible a month ago

Biggest weakness?
Completely self inflicted paucity of senior players. Any injuries at all, any unexpected England or lions call ups and we are stuffed... again

Biggest Strengths?
Colly's captaincy
bowling production line

Player you hope will do well?
Rushy has to do well or........... you guessed it!

County Championship
3rd. I think we've got a very squad but possibly not strong enough to compete with Surrey and Hampshire.

T20 Blast
Group stage.

50 Over
Quarter Finals.

Who will be the key player and why?
Darren Stevens - Not much needs to be said, he's a gamechanger and can single handedly win any match in any format.

Who will be top run scorer?
CC - Rob Key
T20 Blast - Fabian Cowdrey
50 over - Darren Stevens

Who will be top wicket taker?
CC - Doug Bollinger
T20 Blast - Doug Bollinger
50 over - James Tredwell

Which youngster will emerge?
Fabian Cowdrey. Got a few chances in the limited overs stuff last year and will hopefully be a regular this season while also forcing himself into the Championship side.

Biggest weakness?
Lower order - A very long tail which on current form would start at 7.
Bowling depth - We have many bowling options but i'm not sure if they are all top quality. Many of them are unknown quantities.
Lack of big hitters - In limited overs cricket, the team is completely dependent on Stevens to score quickly. No other player can hit big consistently.

Biggest Strengths?
Top order - The top 6 are all in good form or scored well last year so hopefully more of the same.
Pace off the ball - In limited overs, the spin of Tredwell and Riley will come in very handy. As well as the medium pace of Davies, Stevens and Ball.

Players you hope will do well?
Adam Ball/Fabian Cowdrey. Two very promising all-rounders. They both have the potential to be fantastic cricketers. Cowdrey particularly excites me while Ball i'd like to see perform after struggling with injury last year.

County Championship
Top 3, would love to say Yorkshire will win it but there is no pressure on paper.

County Champions and worthy ones at that. Some phenomenal performances, both as a team and individuals. The key was turning draw bound games at Day 3 stumps into winning ones, especially the Scarborough fixtures. Then witnessing Yorkshire winning the County Championship at Trent Bridge was an amazing experience. A closely fought and nervous encounter was expected, but ended up with a dominating performance from Yorkshire who won in the most emphatic of styles.

T20 Blast
Quarter Finals

Knocked out of the group stages, bitterly disappointed when Yorkshire were poised for the knockout stages. Failing to defend 200 in a deciding match v Notts I can accept as their top 6 oozed firepower. But Yorkshire thrown away winning positions against Birmingham Bears, Durham and Northants.

50 Over
Quarter Finals

As predicted, but again disappointed to lose against Durham when Yorkshire thrown another winning position away and after a strong group stage performance.

Finch more than filled a void for the temporarily absent Kane Williamson, scoring plenty of middle order runs in the County Championship.

Who will be top run scorer?
Very tough question, depends on which players end up in the England squad. I'll go with Adam Lyth on the basis he is less likely to represent England in any format.

Division One's leading runscorer, forming a beautiful partnership with Alex Lees.

Who will be top wicket taker?
CC - Jack Brooks
Club leading wicket taker and 2nd tournament leading wicket taker with 68.
T20 Blast - Rich Pyrah
Took 13 wickets, 1 behind Adil Rashid and Azeem Rafiq. As reliable performer as ever,
50 over - Adil Rashid
Club leading wicket taker and 2nd tournament leading wicket taker with 21.

Which youngster will emerge?
Jack Leaning - has a taste of 1st XI experience, hoping he'll kick on like Bairstow, Ballance, Root and Lees have done.

Averaged 55 in the RLODC, 39 in the County Championship. Not a bad return for a first full season.

Biggest weakness?
Batsmen not consistent enough in clearing the ropes. Gale, Bairstow and Ballance are capable hitters but are prone to eating up balls.

Bairstow has got back some of his mojo in the Twenty20, but Gale is not the limited overs player he used to be.

Biggest Strengths?
Bowling department, Yorkshire could field two separate attacks and they wouldn't look out of place.

SIdebottom (48 wickets @ 18.35 avg), Plunkett (24 @ 24.83), Rashid (46 @ 26.06), Bresnan (30 @ 31.86), Patterson (36 @ 27.80) and Brooks (68 @ 28.02) speaking volumes.

Player you hope will do well?
Alex Lees - I think he has massive potential not just in County Championship cricket but also in limited overs.

Fulfilled his promise, an excellent timer of the ball and very competent in all 3 forms. A player who can play traditional cricket shots in Twenty20 and score above a run a ball.

LVCC: Mid table 1st Division
T20: Semi Final
Pro50: Group stages

Aside from the LVCC, pretty much spot on. Boy did I get the County Championship badly wrong.

Key player: Glen Chapple.

Glen needs no explanation, he is a titan, nay a legend of the game. Easy the best bowler never to play Test cricket for England.

Poor season from Glen by his standards. Tom Smith had a cracking season in the LVCC over 700 runs at 33 and 54 wickets at 20. Croft also had a decent season and Prince was the rock in our batting.

Top run scorer: Reece. The boy will go far.

Badly wrong, Reece struggled to adapt to first division cricket spending a large chunk of the season out of the first team

Top Wicket taker: Toss up between Kerrigan and Hogg depending on England selection and the weather.

Wrong again. Smith led the way in the LVCC, Kerrigan had a poor season and when he was fit Hogg was excellent.

Young player: Reece, see above.

Dear oh dear! In a season full of middleness I'd probably plump for Clark

Biggest weakness: The keeper if Buttler starts for England this summer, if not the batting aside from Reece, Kat and Prince.

Finally got one right. Sans Buttler, Davies did a decent job but the batting on the whole was terrible.

Biggest strength: The bowling. Ali, Chaps, Kerri and Hogg on form are second to none, aside from Onions.

Probably fair enough.

Player I hope will do well: Hogg. Easily the most talented cricketer at the Red Rose. When Kyle takes wickets we tend to win!

It was devestating to hear Hogg calling time on his career, an excellent player on his day and as the story goes was originally rated more highly than Anderson by England.

Indeed. Just a shame in 2014 they took wickets with a chucker, and therefore part cheated their way to a title without punishment.
