Maybe a player coach role, which tbf, could end up being an incredibly useful signing for their playing staff.

Don't think McDonald would qualify as an overseas player because he won't have played the required number of recent international games. The rules are set to be relaxed for next year to allow overseas players to return without fulfilling the criteria on international games but only if they played county cricket this season.
So unless he qualifies as a 'non overseas' player I don't think he could play.

They already have Clint McKay as their overseas

McDonald has been playing club cricket in Australia but is not expected to register as a player.

McKay sounds as if he'll be a good choice.

Geraint Jones: Gloucestershire sign former England wicketkeeper

He will now return to Bristol as a specialist batsman and captain in four-day cricket.

I wasn't aware that he'd been at Gloucs previously.

Think the "return" refers to his loan spell at the club for a few weeks this season, he was only there for a short time because he got injured.

Yeah, as CC said, he spent a month there this season when Roderick ( I think ) was injured, then Jones got injured and went back to Kent.

Hope it goes well for him-he's always come over as a thoroughly pleasant guy. Didn't his parents run a very popular snack bar at the Canterbury ground?

apparently they spoke to Michael Klinger who is coming back this season and captained the previous 2 seasons, and he's fine with the appointment...

A good choice of club where the opportunity of 1st xi cricket is plentiful.

Sussex 8/1 to win the title is worth a cheeky several pounds.

If Jordan doesn't play a Test and Mills can get fit, then they'd be a decent shout.

Currently looking between Notts, Yorkshire and Sussex for me.
