Potentially some interesting developments to announce over the next few days too.

This just in: At a sweaty post nets press conference, i've been appointed 2nd team captain. A role i've never envisaged in doing, particularly with a lack of captaincy experience and still relatively new to club cricket. However looking at the wider picture, being captain has great potential to benefit the team and club as a whole.

Effectively i'm working from the bottom up so I just have the two goals for now; raise 11 players and bat 40 overs regardless of ability. BMSSCL pitches are more bowler friendly than Aigburth and Riverside so anything above 100 can be a winning total at this stage in the season.

Well done indeed. I used to play for my works team, but my old arthritic body isn't up to it anymore :bye

But when I'm not watching Sussex, I can think of nothing nicer than an afternoon watching Priory Park. From the east side of the ground you have a lovely view of Chichester Cathedral as a backdrop.

Cheers guys :thumb The response has been pleasantly surprising between friends and fellow cricketers at friendly/social level. I think it will sink in once the league season is underway as I try to set a field.

Highest profile recruit i've made is a wicketkeeper-batsman called Ames.

Have actually visited their ground before, nice little setup.

Either the weather conditions were vile, an unsatisfactory wicket or the batsmen didn't play themselves in.

Did the teas last week, only for a torrential downpour to happen at 1pm which caused enough damage to abandon the game. There was me rushing to get the ground for the toss with kit and grub in tow, only for a queue of players disjointed at the state of the pitch. Had a look myself and was stunned with the amount of standing water about. Felt sorry for those who made the pilgrimage only for the match to be abandoned.
