today we had the most one sided of wins, and managed to beat the elements as well..

rocked up and arrived at a place with a soaking wet wicket.i lost the toss and for some strange reason the oppo decided to bat.... we bowled them out for 49!!! My figures were 10-6-4-11 including a hatrick!!! We then knocked them off inside 8 overs losing no wickets!

Last Saturday our match against top of the league got rained off, brilliant result :D

Yesterday was a horror show, starting off with 2 players dropping out with the final hour due to personal reasons and a blunder from the 1st team captain in selecting a player who was unavailable. So I ended up with 8 men.

Faced against a side where a few former team-mates who now play for. Plenty of friendly banter flying about but actions spoke louder than words. I won the toss and chose to field, thinking the only way we can win is skittle the opposition for 2 figures and knock the runs off. That plan massively backfired as they scored 308-1, I took the sole wicket of a former team-mate, but two others put on a 300 run stand taking advantage of gaps in the field, one of them scoring 210*. We put up a fight with the bat but eventually succumbed all out for 81. Couldn't fault the commitment from my players as they showed courage in a very difficult encounter and went beyond the call of duty.

However a 35 over friendly game today had a happier encounter, though it took me 2 hours to get out of bed as my legs were in bits. Chasing 142 to win I came in at 70-8 three balls before drinks. I dropped anchor and scored 7 off 30 something balls in a 32 run partnership with the skipper. As the run rate reached 6rpo I attempted to up the tempo but miscued a shot and got caught by the bowler. However we won on the final ball and the skipper finished 53*.

Not too shabby Matt, i'd be happy with Chris Martin as my teams batting coach!

this week we suffered a 3 wicket defeat....yet again not enough runs, as our batting collasped to 30-5, me and our wicket-keeper batted 23 overs to try and re-build, but we both fell within a couple of overs of each other, and we fell to 110 AO....we got 7 wickets, but were always struggling from early on in the game.

Was involved in a low scoring thriller on Saturday. Won the toss and elected to bat, partly because 7 players arrived at the toss but also having played at the same ground a month ago I felt the slow wicket misbehaved more in the 2nd innings.

Succumbed to 11-4 after a hat-trick from one of the opposition bowlers. Our no3 batsman and the lower order provided some sort of resistance but we were eventually all out for 69.

A fantastic response in defending a small total, having the opposition 27-5 at one stage thanks to top opening bowling and good catching. The score was 49-6 at drinks so I put myself onto bowl, with the umpire quipping "The captain bowling, this could be fun." 1st and only over yielded 2 wickets for 1 run but I broke down on the 5th ball after feeling a sudden shooting pain on my calf upon the delivery stride. Had to take myself out of the attack and reinstated my other opening bowler, who was targeted by the incoming batsman who swung from the hip and eventually we lost by 2 wickets.

We had a 160* and a 120 yesterday. Couldn't bowl the opposition out in 54 overs so only a 'winning draw'.

Almost a perfect day. Not needed to bat, not needed to bowl, no catches to take/drop, beautiful day and lovely scenery. Just needed the win!

Still searching for the 1st win. Won the toss and put the opposition into bat on an uneven wicket, dismissed them for 88 all out (I come away with 7.1-3-33-3, decent return for bowling gingerly). Opposition dismissed us for 36, a combination of a rampant swing/pace opening pair along with a couple of false shots.

Not all doom and gloom, the 1st team won and also recruited another player.

Managed 16 overs yesterday before abandonment. Then went to the main ground to see the 2nds get abandoned too.

Thanks to a slow fielding attempt, I do have a nice egg on my shin courtesy of a player from this list: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/conten ... 82840.html
