Last week our game was abandoned to an unfit outfield due to the deluge of rain throughout the week. Only 4 matches in the whole league started and 1 got a result.

Great figures. A real boost to turn in a match winning performance.

Played back to back matches this weekend.

Starting with the league match on Saturday, won the toss (that is 2 out of 2) and elected to bat. Pitch looked dry, temperatures getting warmer and the sun beating down. Hopefully the opposition will toil and we'll be able to post a decent total. Wasn't to be as we were all out for 61 and I managed a 10 ball duck trying to steady the ship batting at 8. Great rally in the end from my experienced opening bowlers, but eventually lost by 5 wickets.

Also got called up to play for the 1st team in the cup at short notice, along with 4 other 2nd team players. 2 blobbed at the last minute so we had to play with 9 men against a side two divisions above us. Got skittled for 26 and I only managed a 2 ball duck, got done by a straight and quick delivery which took out my middle stump but my footwork was a lot to be desired. Again we rallied well with the ball and field, but eventually lost by 5 wickets.

Not the best weekend then Alviro? At least you finished early, giving more time in the bar.

Bad luck. Hope the sunburn isn't too bad.

The recent deluge of rain has done enough to call off the cricket this weekend. Mostly relieved because we were to face top of the league and had very little batting options. Slightly disappointed because my best mate was available to play today and is a very handy left arm swing bowler, perfect foil for my regular opening bowler who is amongst the wickets. Best case scenario was winning the toss, bowling first, skittling the opposition out for less than 50 and knocking the runs off with 1 wicket to spare.
