Pitch Inspectors

Postby Aidan11 » Tue Apr 29, 2014 3:37 pm

For a while now I've thought of pitch inspectors being a waste of time and still do.

To be fair though I think the rules need to be changed. 15 wickets in a day happens every now and then but that doesn't mean the pitch is bad. In fact what is wrong with a game where wickets tumble?

Why aren't flat pitches punished? I would rather watch an exciting game where there are plenty of wickets falling than one where one team has scored 600 and the other gets 500 as the game peters out into an inevitable draw.

Thoughts?

I don't think its actually a case of 15 wickets fall and inspectors take a look anymore, after 15 wickets fall I believe the umpires decide if an inspector is needed.

The reports from the Notts game was that the umpires were unhappy and requested one.

I think they should make it 20 wickets at least.

I don't think there should be any specific number of wickets, if the umpires have a problem, they should report it.

I'd go along with that. Or if England take 10 wickets in a day for instance.

Notts avoided a points deduction in the current match.
