Chadd Sayers and Jason Behrendorff are both out for the rest of the season.

So we're back under way after the BBL break. Matches from here out will be played at secondary venues, giving way to the World Cup. With five rounds to play, the Vics are on top, surprisingly enough. Can they stay there?

The Sozzies are up against the Wozzies. Travis Head has the armband from SA - I'd have thought Callum Ferguson or Tom Cooper in the absence of Johan Botha. Anyhoo, they made 328 in the first dig, with Cosgrove and Ferguson making runs.

Tasvegas and NSW are doing the business down in Slowbart. The home side were bowled out for 272, with Sean Abboott the leading wicket taker there with 3. Ed Cowan top scored with 76, with Jordan Silk failing with 1, and skipper Alex Doolan being run out for a duck.

Finally, up in Brisbania, the Vics got rolled for 260, with Matty Wade top scoring with 152. Petr George took a 5 fer.

More updates to follow.

Chris Lynn has had a day out. He finishes at stumps on fay 2 on 250 not out; with 10 6's & 21 4's... against a bowling attack featuring Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, John Hastings and Fawad Ahmed. His fc average currently sits on 48.88. Mark my words, this bloke will be getting a baggygreen real soon, and will be a star!

Queensland wrapped up their innings victory over Victoria today, with a day to spare. And in the game in Tassie, Peter Nevill set a Shield record by registering the highest individual score by a wicket-keeper, with an effort of 235 not out, to lift his fc average to over 40. Nevill could be a dark horse to be Brad Haddin's under study for the Ashes.

Yesterday Doug Bollinger became the first bowler in the history of the Sheffield Shield to take 2 hattricks.

Well done, The Rug.

Peter Siddle takes an 8-fer (fer 35-ish, I think) against SA in SA's home match, to remind selectors that he is still around. Neighbourhood ground (Glenelg) due to the World Cup.

Weeks after signing a new contract with Tasmania, Hairy Ed Cowans has announced that he won't be playing for them next season. He says he realised that he needs to be a family man who plays cricket rather than a cricketer who has a family, and he wouldn't be doing justice to that contract.

Life in Sydney beckons.

The final is not far away. The Vics will be hosting WA down in Tas-Vegas. It will be quite an achievement for the Vics if they win, given I didn't hold out much hope at the start of the season.
