2 days of the final have been played (with no rain interruptions so far) in Hobart. WA started off quite strongly (batting) but Fawad Ahmed helped peg them back, and dismiss them for 421. Adam Voges makes a strong case for selection on the Windies tour, with a(nother) cerntury.

Ahmed also put his name up in front of the selectors with his best ever bowling figures of 8/89, also the best figures in a Shield final.

The Vics - who only need to draw the game to win the Sheffield Shield - are in a strong position at the end of Day 2 (of 5), at 0/135. Chris Rogers 79 no, and Rob Quiney 48 no.

Voges will be handily placed when Aus come a calling this summer. Are Australia interested in him... at all? I'm not sure they are, particularly

Fawad Ahmed will get a call-up for the Ashes tour, I'd say. His form this season has been impressive.

As has Voges'. Player of the season - and Ahmed must have run him close for that, being highest wicket-taker, I think.

The Bushies lifted the trophy. Too bad this match wasn't played at the MCG, which was available.
