Hi 2015!

So there is a positive start to the year in the fact that we lost our Chief Exec at the back end of last year. There has been an EGM called to do with asset sales. No overseas player but there will apparently be no budget cuts to the playing staff at least.

Only time will tell.

Kleinveldt is overseas and Levi is Kolpak. Both for the season.

Kleinveldt is a great signing. Don't Northants overseas players usually all get made unavailable before the season starts though?

Yes, Kleinveldt is one of those who were pulled out last season. Should be a decent signing if he plays though.

I think this is third time lucky for him as he has pulled out two years in a row. Cross your fingers all Northants sympathists! Levi should just add something to the batting line up too so fairly happy about the pair.

So is Levi available for the whole season, then? I think I assumed that he would be a T20 player

Yes he will be a Kolpak across all formats.

Nor am I. That doesn't sit well with me. Still the rather dull Northants wickets will benefit from a spot of dancing.

I wonder if big name signings have a significant impact on the crowd numbers? Afridi has star quality but will he and other similar types be well known enough outside the circle of regular cricket followers to attract lots of new fans? I have my doubts.

Am I right in thinking that we wanted him to leave?
