One more wicket and the all rounders are in. Tim might have had a great season with the bat, but six is probably a place too high. Works with Bairstow in the side.

Nice partnership building, could do with breaking it before lunch.

But your all rounders are more than capable of getting you home.

So it looks like Sussex and Somerset are settling for a draw, while Worcester are going for a declaration target.

Somerset well on course for maximum batting points, might be able to deprive Sussex of at least one bowling point.

Quite like the look of seam bowler Ryan Stevenson. Decent pace easily 80mph+, solid run-up, bowls a consistent line and more than capable of extracting some bounce. Amazed to learn his First Class debut was made this month, he looks like a player who has been on the scene a bit longer.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

I hadn't heard of him until he played his first game. Looks a prospect, already reaching speeds of low eighties. Be interesting to see how he does in div two next season if he gets a chance.

What's everyones verdict on today, then? I reckon the gamble was worth it , just a shame it didn't work out. So we just need Yorks to decimate Sussex so they only get , say , 5 bonus points and Hampshire win with 6 bonus points. Easy!

I suppose Yorkshire were always going to insist on a favourable chase for them and that left you with a tricky decision to either settle for an almost certain draw or gamble. From a neutral point of view I think it was worth the risk and it looked like paying off during the morning session. Good luck for the last game, I hope you stay up.

Think I'm right in saying that we just need Sussex to lose , Hampshire to win and get the same bonus points because Hampshire are then ahead on the fewer losses tie-break. Easier!

As a said on the CC thread the contrived game was extremely favorable to Yorks in that they had to take no risks on a flat pitch to get to their target.

It's extremely unlikely we'll beat Notts so I'm pretty much resigned to the fact we're going down. Our own fault for a diabolical first half of the season.
