Belated happy new year to one and all, and three months to go until we start life back in division one. Survival would be the name of the game I would guess or can we possibly dream of being in contention for our first title in 42 years?

If Bournemouth can lead the Championship then anything is possible (& Weymouth top of their division as well!) - Hvave to get used to 2 players called Adams for the first 3 months. Vince has finally got a 50 (78?) for the Lions & we'll need him in top form. Come on Hampshireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Anyone know if Bates has found a county yet?

And Poole Town are just behind Weymouth. Not forgetting Soton's exploits in the Premiership.

Nearly there... Hotels looking good from what I've seen and Andre Adams (I'm going to get so bored of writing first names this season :D) operation was described as a success. Expect we'll start off something like this then :

Carberry
Adams
Dawson
Vince
Smith
Ervine
Wheater
Wood/Coles (Tough one there, Coles was fairly consistant through the season but Wood had that really good period after returning from his injury)
Adams
Tomlinson
Bird

Wood/Coles
Briggs
Terry
Gatting
Alsop
McManus

Presumably by the time the T20's start Bird and Adams may have left us bringing in Briggs (who I hope will get a try out in the CC sometime) and Arafat with Coles for Tomlinson which will leave us in a position with Wood, Coles or Arafat at 10 (and Briggs at 11) while still having 7 legitimate bowling options.

It will all inevitably screw up when someone gets injured just before the start of the season though...

Taken a while, but Vince has finally come to the Lions party.

Not his quickest innings ever, but has certainly relieved some of the pressure he must have been under.

What are peoples thoughts on this signing, I hardly know anything about him. Apparently he has done pretty well for Middlesex but barely played last year after having shoulder surgery, and is getting on a bit!

Berg is a very good all-round cricketer....before his shoulder injury, was a key part of Middlesex's plans, you've got a good one there.

Cheers CF, lets hope so. He seems to suggest he's as fit as he has been in a while, time will tell.

Bit of a heist you've pulled off there. Rumour was Berg had an open seat waiting for him at The Middle should he regain fitness for this season. Well either that or he's not fully fit.

Joe Gatting has been keeping fit playing football for Peacehaven, but they let him go for financial reasons.

I see Hants have come out and said they would have no problem in resigning Pietersen. I don't comment much on international cricket on this forum especially one day related stuff, but if that disruptive egotistical specimen was to rejoin Hants I think I would probably have to stay permanently in the Lounge.

We've released Coles. His off-field issues continue to colour his career.

On the presumption that we don't replace him (and that we don't sign KP), I'm guessing our sides for this season will look something like this:

LVCC: Carberry, J Adams, Dawson, Vince, Smith, Ervine, Wheater, Wood, A Adams, Tomlinson, Bird (with Briggs, Terry, Gatting, and Berg in reserve).

t20: Carberry, Vince, Adams, Smith, Ervine, Dawson, Wheater, Arafat, Wood, Briggs, Bird (with Berg in reserve).

One day: Carberry, Vince, Adams, Smith, Ervine, Dawson, Wheater, Berg, Wood, Briggs, Bird (with Terry and Tomlinson in reserve, and Arafat, or a different overseas player, potentially replacing Bird if the latter is unavailable - at present Bird is only here for the first three months of the season).

Should Arafat ultimately qualify as a non-overseas player, then we may well see more of him than just in t20.

Disappointed with the Coles news, would love to know what happened, maybe he threw his toys out of the pram about another seamer signing ?

First I've heard about KP, would devastate me if he re-joined.

Agree with Brendy about the LVCC side, expect I'd have Smith at 3 and Daws at 5.

Think there is still a chance Carbs could end up going to the IPL too. In which case Smith opens and Gatting/Alsop slot in at 6 and Slug up to 5.
