Ranji trophy

Rahul goes back and makes a triple century as his team make about 700 (Praveen Kumar got 5/88 though) - opposition all out for about 220

Rishi Dhawan at it again - made 65 as his side racked up over 500 and then took 7/93 in 30 overs out of 346ao from 112 overs: has 2/47 in the follow on so far from 21 overs out of 139/6 from 78 overs

Sanju samson scored a double century batting at 3 as well ... him and Naman Ojha will be looking to put pressure on Saha for Dhoni's succession. Karthik and Parthiv Patel seem to be out of the picture now

I keep seeing the name Rishi Dhawan banded about on forums. On paper he looks a cracking all rounder, a sub 25 bowling average for an Indian pacer is mighty impressive. Why is he not getting a chance at international level?

same reason that they weren't keen on giving Bhuvneshwar Kumar a go until we had a few injuries and he came in and did really well - he is not seen as bowling fast enough. Also, his batting is more suited to the longer game as he's not great at slogging and the Ind selectors seem to give more weight to IPL performances

In addition, Binny's dad is a selector and if Rishi came in and did well then Binny would have no chance of getting in the team

BCCI mulls changes to Ranji points system and to the Deodhar and Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 formats:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/conte ... 78095.html

he BCCI's technical committee, in an attempt to make the Ranji Trophy more exciting and competitive, has proposed to revamp the existing points structure. The committee has suggested doing away with points for the first-innings lead in games and awarding a bonus point each if a team reaches specified targets in batting and bowling in the first innings.........

Under the new points system for the Ranji Trophy, a team can earn a bonus point each if it scores 300 runs in 85 overs and takes seven wickets in 85 overs in a first innings. Effectively a team stands to earn a maximum of nine points if it scores an innings victory or wins by ten wickets.

The other key decision the committee took was to modify the Deodhar Trophy, the zonal one-day tournament. The panel has proposed that the tournament now be contested between three teams: the winner of the Vijay Hazare Trophy and two teams picked by the national selection committee. It is understood that with the Deodhar Trophy modified, the BCCI has indirectly scrapped the NKP Salve Challenger tournament...........

The technical committee has also suggested that the Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 tournament should not be played on a zonal basis and teams should instead be clustered in four groups.

MCA have again changed the Kanga League schedule this year. I heard that this time it will start in 2nd or 3rd week of August.
