Neesham is a good signing. Not so sure about Bird for Notts. He seems to be a bit past his best. Just took a 5-fer against NZ, but bowled plenty of poor spells.

Surrey have signed two South African pace bowlers Conor McKerr (18) and Mathew Pillans (24) on three-year deals.

Surrey are just taking liberties in signing a Youth International and a player who plyed his trade in the South African equivalent of Minor Counties cricket and are classed as domestic players on a technicality, for the purpose of boosting their squad numbers. While Trent Copeland was a revelation for Northants, enhancing the quality of County Cricket as a result but couldn't extend his stay because he didn't play enough internationals for Australia.

Surrey have signed Ravi Rampaul.

So many seamers: Rampaul, Meaker, Dernbach, Footitt, T Curran, S Curran, Burke, Dunn, Pillans, McKerr, Kapil.

News articles don't say whether Rampaul is registered as overseas or as a kolpak.

I'm guessing as a Kolpak.

Given his age and nationality, and the fact that Surrey have already signed Sangakarra as their main overseas player, Bravo as their second overseas player for t20, and Finch as cover to Sangakarra when he's at the CPL, surely Rampaul has been signed as a kolpak.

Azeem Rafiq, who recently returned to Yorkshire on a trial basis and played a few 2nd xi matches, has signed a contract until the end of the season

I wonder if Moin Ashraf would have been a better signing. Been very impressive in club cricket in Durham. Currently at Brad/Leeds Uni.

From the match report on Durham's site:
Ashraf, signed on a short-team deal as injury cover and given his Northants debut here,

So he was playing club cricket at Durham and we have injury problems! Logical thing would have been for Durham to try and sign him up. Maybe they did try but I doubt it.

Yorkshire needed a 3rd spinner with Adil Rashid away on England duty, also Rafiq is another batting option given that Bairstow is now another England player.

That said I would love to see Moin Ashraf overcome his injury problems and make a return in the non too distant future, he'd probably get in Yorkshire's white ball side right now.
