Well done Victoria :clap

I'd like to see a domestic version of The Ashes where the Sheffield Shield winners take on the County Champions

That would be good. Both countries' Rugby Leagues have been particpating in this sort of thing for the past decade or so - although it seems to have gotten out of hand lately.

Your point relates to CA announcing that, for the second half of the Sheffield Shield next season, the Duke ball will be used. An obvious effort to get Aus players used to the ball before the next Ashes test series in England - in 2019...

Harbinger for the death of the Kookaburra?

Great idea-played at the beginning of April as a proper curtain-raiser and to be televised on terrestrial. Far more meaningful than playing MCC in Abu Dhabi watched by the invisible man.

A tainted victory though, Stands. This one should have an asterisk against it in the history books.

That asterisk is a far bigger penalty for Victoria than the five runs and the ball change. Though the players are blameless here (as far as I know). I don't like the idea of the play off anyway, with SA finishing top of the league over the whole Australian summer, although narrowly.

There was a lot of turnover in the state sides, and they looked hard to recocnise towards the end of the season.

Well done to Ben Dunk and Joe Mennie, top run scorer and wicket taker.

I would assume that the upcoming County season will be his last then - or has he become an Englishman?

I doubt that.

A damned fine ODI bowler for Aus - in his short time with the national team.

Maybe the money is far better in County cricket over The Shield.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was.

It is probably more to do with the fact he can't get a game in the Victorian side. Too many other bowlers to pick.

Can it be true, do we really have no Sheffield Shield 2016/2017 thread? Surely not, but I struggled to find it.

The Vics are looking set for their third Shield in a row - surely Stands is due a visit soon? - after the first day, they are 3/330-ish, only needing the draw. Well done (so far), them.

In Alice Springs.
