Looks like we've pulled this back a bit as the day comes to an end.

If we do get the chance to declare what will we look for? Surely got to set Durham a decent target, say 270/280 from 80 overs?

I guess it all depends on how long you think you need to get 10 wickets. That sort of equation sounds a good one and I reckon you will have a great chance. There's no point in Durham trying to batten down the hatches at any stage of a run chase. Could go two ways for us - either the lack of pressure on batsmen who know the result doesn't matter will free them up and someone will play a blinder or it'll be the opposite and they'll get themselves out with daft shots - they are good at that!
Perhaps the third possibility is the favourite - our incompetent batting against spin bowlers will lead to a clatter of wickets.

I think you'll probably chase any target down comfortably with our limited attack.

If you hadn't won your last game, maybe things would have been different.

One thing with Durham is they are unpredictable. There have been a fair few 4th innings successful chases that I had written off before they started but equally there have been a lot of disasters. If we needed to win I definitely would not be confident.

I guess it shouldn't be forgotten that Durham were 186-7. Until that wicket of Dawson, we were on course to actually be in a better position than that.

If we lose this - and I made Durham favourites - it won't be because of our batting today. We should never have let Durham escape from 186-7 to 361.

No. A draw still sends them down if we win.

Right then, a lead of 226. 94 more overs left of our season (I think it's safe to say that the change of innings wont occur at tea, so there will be the drop from 96 overs to 94 overs)

Bat at 4 per over for 14 of them would be another 56 runs, so a lead of 282. Durham to chase 283 from 80 overs, at 3.5 per over. That's probably the best we can hope for. Ideally I'd rather it was 283 from 85 overs - yes that would reduce the required rate, but it would give us more overs. And a second new ball - but that would probably mean Berg having to play a quickfire 30 cameo. McManus doesn't strike me as someone who can just click into 5th gear.

Right now, 226 is my bare minimum. I wouldn't have wanted anything less than that. But, almost perversely, 96 overs would be too many with that target. Durham could practically block their way to victory. Or if we were to bowl them out, we'd more likely do it off about 65 overs than 95 overs.

Not far away from what I thought earlier, 270/280 from 80 overs, but whether we will get that far remains to be seen.

I'm still massively under confident that we will get a result. Confidence levels have steadily fallen as the game has progressed.

So aside from Notts, the one and only time we've even come remotely close to bowling a side out second time around (whether third or fourth innings of the match) was way back in just our second game. And that was on the fourth day when the game was already drifting to a high scoring draw.

Similarly, aside from Notts again, we have never bowled a side out for under 280 this season whether first innings or second innings.

Could be all set up for an interesting ( if that's the right word!) last day. A few of our batsmen haven't been in good form including Colly who is usually good against spin. I have a feeling Stokes might be key.

Crane unsurprisingly does bugger all with the bat again.

A lot of things for this guy to work on in the off season. Obviously bowling is the priority but you have to be able to hold a bat in the modern game, especially if you're a spinner.

Got to be careful from here Hants, don't want to go gung ho with the bat and leave Durham with an easy chase. Obviously have to try and set a target which would mean that the odd risk would need to be taken during the chase.

Very handy indeed, hopefully bergy can get 15-20 more and leave them with 300 to chase.
