Foakes has been coached from his school days to be an elite player. He has been fast tracked into development and Lions squads (despite doing little in CC). He's been extensively prepared for international cricket. It's a bit of a surprise to hear him comment on CC1 being a such a big jump in quality.

This is probably the first time Foakes has played Division One cricket. He is bound to notice the increased levels of intensity, quality and consistency no matter how talented he might be. It will be interesting to see how he fares against better Division One bowling attacks, or on a dull Sunday morning at Chester-Le-Street.

We've elected to field, not surprised after our top order's previous efforts. Still gutted we're without Topley although his replacement is a similarly built left arm seamer who can at least bat a bit and can strengthen the very weak bottom three.

Not expecting much out this game except a severe beating.

Surprised by the decision of Bell to bowl at Lords and the punishment the Warks bowlers are getting emphasizes that fact. There was little in the weather to suggest bowl first and Tomorrow is forcast heavy clouds.
