Royal London Cup Discussion Thread 2016

This completion seems to be completely unloved by the ECB yet it is in the format that they so dearly wish England to excel in, maybe it's not the money maker that they see T2o as. For me after the CC this is by far the more interesting completion as for batsmen it combines the skill to score quickly with the need to develop a decisive innings and bowlers have a chance to work a batsman out.

I also prefer it to T20 but it does seem to have a very low profile. It'll be interesting to see what size crowds it attracts.

Klinger who was the outstanding batsman in this competition las year has gone early after looking pretty uncomfortable since he arrived. I see Carberry is not playing for Hants is he injured?

The victory of Gloucestershire last year shows that a Div 2 team can win in this format but it is against the odds for it to happen on regular basis. I thought Surrey would do well I the CC which isn't happening but surely in this format they hold some very good cards.

He got injured on Thursday night (although was deemed fit enough to play on Friday night). But he's also having a shocking season pretty much. So all things considered I think it's just us give him a day of rest, physically and mentally.

We also need to see if Alsop and McManus are good enough for limited overs cricket.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

I don't know who chose the kit for Gloucester but those yellow squares on their belly and bottoms look ridiculous. The one over their bottoms looks as if it's a patch covering a big hole.

The other day all the excitement was about Tynan Mills bowing lightning deliveries at over 90mph and today there's Trego bowling at 70mph bamboozling the Gloucester batsmen. Speed like size isn't everything.

50 for Buttler and successive boundaries rather spoiling Clarke's excellent figures. Nicely poised.

Has anything more been said over the MVP rankings qualification for this North v South? Presumably it will be total points earned and not average therefore it will be highly beneficial for anyone who's close to qualifying through them to be on a team that goes through to the final given that's an extra 3 games to earn points in ontop of the 8 group games.

The over rate in the Durham game is a long way behind most other games is there a reason for this? or are Leicestershire in danger of a penalty.

Essex right in the middle of a bit of a collapse. Went from 195/2 to 211/5

It's not as if either batsman is an out and out tail ender. Both can bat.
