The all-time Bombay XI

Vijay Merchant

Sunil Gavaskar

Dilip Vengsarkar

Sachin Tendulkar

Polly Umrigar (captain)

Vinoo Mankad

Farokh Engineer (wk)

Karsan Ghavri

Zaheer Khan

Padmakar Shivalkar

Subhash Gupte

Didn't realise ZK was from Mumbai.

Well played for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu. They were playing for the win from the off.

Shaw seems the latest off the Mumbai production line.

His career is also planned well.. Started playing cricket at 3. Played in MIG, well known cricket club at Bandra in Mumbai. Played for Rizvi Springfield school which is well known in domestic Harris sheild competition. He also played a season or 2 in Glouchestershire second 11. Mumbai's Sarfraz Khan who is another U19 cricketer also toured for cricket in Yorkshire at age of 16 iirc.

Rahul Dravid who is coach of U-19 team coached Prithvi. That helps a bit.

Sarfaraz Khan may make the Indian ODI 11 some day as a middle order batsman with few overs to bowl. Prithvi Shaw will have to play well for few more years though to get a chance.

Prithvi's fine form continues from Vinoo Mankad trophy. Good to have inform opener.

Scored 51 versus Saurashtra in sucessful chase of 130.

Scored 113 while chasing 192 versus Maharshtra in Vinoo Mankad trophy.

Next match versus Gujarat he scored 113 while chasing 243 successfully.

Not to mention he scored one or two doubles in other domestic matches iirc.

Along with Jay Bista, Sarfraz Khan, Shreyas Iyer, Vikrant Auti, and Prithvi Shaw we will end up with a excellent Ranji team in future. Probably Armaan Jaffer may also make Ranji squad some day. All of them are under 23, some U under 19 which will ensure there are replacements of good quality for future.

I have taken leave today to watch the first day on tele.

Gujarat Team

Gujarat have won the toss and opted to bowl first to exploit the cold weather conditions which will prevail for some early overs.

This is going to be a cracker. Two in for teams.

Akhil has recovered in time and back for us as opener. Also, Vishal Dabholkar is back in the playing 11. So the team has been strengthened. It's the first Ranji final for most players in our team.

This wicket has been much better in terms of bounce as what was used during India-England tests. Even dibbly dobbly bowlers are getting carry upto waist height.

Prithvi fails to convert it into a big knock, out for 71. Surya not out on 57. :clap Need couple of good partnerships still.

Was selected in Mumbai Under 14 in 2009. He played for Kanga League through "Parkophene Club" for last two seasons which is "A" division club. Parkophene Club may miss him in 2017-2018 Dr. Kanga League as i think he will concentrate more at Ranji level now. Played R. P. SIngh well today on a good deck for Indian conditions.

Important for Gujarat that Panchal stays at the crease for as long as possible tomorrow.

Gujarat has almost won this Ranji Trophy with the first innings lead. :no

Twice Gujarat has taken the first inns lead against Mumbai this season. They are the first side to do this against Mumbai in a Ranji season in the last ten years.
