Silverwood's record with Essex is quite phenomenal -6th in Div2 when he took over to champions in little over 2 years.More importantly the way he has developed Porter and Sam Cook. Let's hope he can have an even quicker impact on the England bowlers -Aussies beware :gun

Devastated by the news, he has turned the club round! However wish him well, wonder who will come in next...

From cricbuzz.
"The appointment is a blow for Essex who will lose a coach who has overseen so much success during the past two seasons, a stint which culminated in their first title since 1992 this year. It is not yet known who will replace Silverwood but his assistant coach, Anthony McGrath, the former Yorkshire and England batsman, is highly thought of by both the players and staff at the club and Cricbuzz understands he is a strong candidate to be promoted to the top job."
When you have a successful coaching set up you promote from within IMO.
The bad news is Graham Thorpe is interested.

Would be okay with McGrath, don't want to change things too much, as the saying goes, don't mess with a winning side, so from that point of view, McGrath would be the obvious candidate...

Essex CCC are up for SPOTY team of the year. They would be worthy winners.
