I suppose with Jennings having a shocker Steel is almost opening now - although getting bowled for 0 shouldering arms isn't a good idea!

In effect they 're saying we're giving him a rest from bowling a maximum of 4 overs and batting a maximum of an hour in a game he's going to attend anyway. Only FTECB could issue a statement like that and not realize how stupid it sounds.

Quite agree. But the FTECB is impervious to sounding stupid especially where Durham is concerned.Completely unacceptable .

Of course they could be trying to avoid another clash between Stokes and Samuels, of whom Stokes is very contemptuous .Another demerit point or worse would not be good pre Ashes.

No one is his class since then either locally or nationally. :salute

Stuart Rayner reporting on his twitter feed that Bunny has been offered a new contract. It appears to be a contract for red ball cricket with extra payments if he plays white ball. Basically a new contract on reduced terms which is fair enough.
I suppose its up to Bunny now does he up sticks to another county if one offers him a better deal, or has he got plans for the next stage of his life after being a player and moves on.

Oh dear not sure how much longer he can go on. If he does not get his central contract renewed it will fall on Durhams toes as well. Its not even as if he has had a long hard couple of days in the field.

I think he'll stay, everything he has said to me suggested that he was desperate to be offered a new deal and would only consider moving if he wasn't given one.

Yes, very worrying and a potentially trucks decision for Durham to make of he doesn't get his central contract renewed - if he's not fit for the Ashes I'm sure if won't be renewed either.

If Harker has given Wood a 3 year contract that is lucrative and without a get out clause then he's been totally irresponsible - talk about not learning by past mistakes.
I'm sure Onions would take what's on offer- appears to be his agent who's procrastinating. Agents appear to be as unprincipled as FTECB.

I suppose Woody's never really had an extended period in order for the condition to fully repair

There has never been an actual diagnosis made public, as far as I know, just the more generalised 'heel injury'

if it is a soft tissue injury it could require several months of complete rest to recover from, and actually that might serve him better than trying to 'manage' the injury.

How old is he?

how much time does he have at the top of the game?

He's 27 which is a couple of years older than I thought. The chances of him going on much past 30 aren't good. Perhaps he will have to concentrate on limited overs cricket.
