According to Emmerson the deal is off because of the time it would take to sort out the visa. Fair enough , seemed little point in any case for a handful of games.

According to Martin Emmerson it will be our 28th televised TV match : record is 9 wins/18 defeats! It'll probably be 9 and 20 by about 9pm tomorrow.

Wellock has a different story - Durham are hopeful the deal will still go ahead and he'll be available for Sunday's game at Old Traffird. If not they will abandon it. Seems very odd to me because the article also states they're hoping Latham will be fit next week-in that case why bother pursuing the other signing.

Starting Sunday, he's available 5 games,4 of which are away. The only logical reason for signing him would be in the hope that he'd attract the not inconsiderable Pakistani population in the NE to games. It's no wonder we're in a financial mess.

Yep. Can't see any reason for pursuing him, had he been available from the start it would have been different.

Cameron Steel has signed a contract extension until 2019. A good move imo, we must retain players who show promise as I'm sure other counties will be after them! Lewis says they are also keen to develop his leg-spin bowling and look to turn him into a genuine all-rounder.

Good move the lad deserves it way past a development contract.
If some don't sign contracts in the next 6 weeks it looks like a few could be off at the end of the season, young and old.

Yep. Do we know who is out of contract ? Colly on a year by year deal so if he wanted to he could wait -obviously it'll either be a new deal or retirement.
Problem we'll have is any promising youngsters will be on other clubs radars and it'll be increasingly hard to keep them.

I wonder if Jack Burnham's 'ramp shot' could be persuaded to sign for Surrey. That shot is not something that I would like to see remain at the club
