We may not get a bat at this rate!

To be honest, that's probably no bad thing. Assuming that the two teams don't set something up tomorrow, then we're not going to win this game. And when you consider that our batting is heavily weakened, Middlesex have a reasonable seam attack, the outfield is soaked, and conditions suit bowling, then in reality just getting one batting point could be difficult.

I'd actually rather the moment we get our 9th wicket, the rest of the match is washed out. Deny Middlesex any bowling points, increase our lead over them by a further three points.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

That's a fair point Brendy about losing play tomorrow and denying Middx any bowling points, especially with Somerset close to victory.

I know it's a tough pitch and our batting line inexperienced but Uxbridge is supposed to be high scoring and maybe conditions for batting might improve tomorrow. Plus I'd like to see some of the youngsters make some runs, see what they're made of.

Current forecast for tomorrow would suggest a washed-out final session, but clear until then.

A shocking first over from Crane gives Middx a giant stepping stone towards a batting bonus point.

And sure enough they get there.

The buy a wicket tactic fails.

Fidel gets five, Abbott took the other wicket to fall this morning.

How crucial will that batting point turn out to be.

The old timer wasn't up to the task, now down to the youngsters.

A decent start but two quick wickets before lunch has given Middx their first bowling point.

Organ to make his debut first ball after lunch I would guess, I imagine he won't be eating much!

Ervine out without troubling the scorers much again.

He's been in poor form recently.

Berg and Abbott holding things up, yet again.

I'd take a whole team of Bergs and Abbotts.

I did say nothing good would come out of having to bat today.

Fingers crossed that that Essex will be too hungover when they come to us next week. Dawson, Bailey and Vince all back will of course help. As would Surrey again producing a flat one at the Oval. Somerset don't have the batting to make a big score.

I know, but nothing much has changed, was always going to be tight from third down to seventh whatever happened today.

Just nice to get a couple of sessions of play after three inactive days.

It's pretty likely we would have lost the game if there had been another days play.

At least this season we go into the last two games in a decent position and not relyng on other results to secure safety.
