If you could pick two guys to ideally do it, they would be the two, on the basis of all they have given to us over their careers. Even more so if it turns out to be their final innings for us.

First let off for Jimmy. Poor shot, didn't connect.

Second let off. Plays almost the exact same shot, did connect, but Ambrose dropped it.

To be fair to Alsop, other than one amazingly close leave in the first over, he's looked very solid so far.

Unfortunately not, in the case of Adams anyway, and no doubt Ervine will be following him back to the pavilion shortly.

I'll take those eight overs. My money was us being 10-3.

Met Office rain map suggests no more play today at Taunton and Edgbaston.

At last something has turned in our favour, the rain has arrived a couple of hours early.

Now for the drainage system to breakdown or a sink hole to appear in the middle of the pitch.

Well we've got a choice of two grounds for that to occur at!

Right now, all I'm finding myself thinking about is Warks letting the Yorks tail somehow get home last week. They're doing worse against Essex fourth innings right now than we did! Take away those 16 points from Yorks, and us and Middlesex could both relax. Ifs, buts and maybes.

what's the position at the minute? will a draw do you, or is it all a bit weather dependent? Somerset need to win and you have to do at least as well as the Middle, but try not to lose?

all very complicated

blimey... you were up near the top of the table at the half way point, weren't you?

Draw will do us fine. Simply, one of us or Middlesex has to avoid losing.

We lose and Middlesex lose = we go down.

We lose and Middlesex don't lose = Somerset go down.

We don't lose and Middlesex lose = Middlesex go down.

We don't lose and Middlesex don't lose = Somerset go down.

It's not just at the half way point of the season that we were towards the top. Half way through last week's match, after we bowled Essex out for 76, we were heading for a second place finish. Our highest since 2005 I think. A pretty shocking two or three days of cricket is most likely going to see us finish five places further down the league, and relegated.

2nd to 7th was always very tight points wise so a couple of bad results and you can drop 4 or 5 places.

Yep, a draw is all we need irrespective of what happens at Taunton.

That's why we want the rain to have a big say, because we sure can't survive on our fragile batting line up right now.

If we do go down, at least we've got two games against you guys, and all the banter that entails.

Not necessarily. There are four sides in D2 who you'll only play once. It's still only a 14 game each league, not 18 each.

Basically if you pull Leicester out the hat as one of the sides you'll play twice, you can be happy.

I'd forgotten about that nonsense, i'd still rather play Durham twice, there ate no Leicester supporters on this forum.
