Subject to, as I say, Smith.

We don't know for certain if these three are fighting for one place or two.

We also don't know for certain what are plans are with Rilee. If he is already pencilled in to play against Yorkshire, then what happens if Ervine converts this start into a big score? It's pretty nailed on that Vince and Dawson will both start, regardless of what they do in this game. Or is Rilee not in a four day plans at this stage?

I was thinking this personally :

Carberry
Alsop/Adams
Vince
Rossouw
Ervine
Dawson
McManus
Berg/Crane/Any of the seamers in this match
Abbott
Edwards
Topley (Although the fact he was in the squad for this game but hasn't played is a bit odd?)

I don't think Smith is in contention for the first game hence him not playing this game but I could be having the wrong end of the stick there.

Berg is surely a nailed on starter. Solid professional in his two years with us, certainly has the ability to be a quality fourth seamer, and the only one capable of batting at 8. Last thing we want is to be a five-down all-out team. Even more so given the issues we have at the top of the order. Far too much pressure on the three or four guys in the middle order.

I'm not sure what to read into Topley not playing in this game. But like Wood, I think we'll see more of him in white-ball cricket than red ball-ball this year.

(Talking of which, I still believe that if we can ourselves a top overseas allrounder like Watson or Afridi, then we potentially possess the best t20 team in the country on paper. We didn't even have that when we were making five consecutive finals days! Carberry, Vince, Ervine, Rilee, Bailey, Dawson, All-rounder, McManus, Wood, Abbott, Topley)

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Could well be in for a prolific season. He can put the pressure of cricket into true perspective after what he's been through.

Indeed, fantastic to see Carbs getting a ton today. Really hope he has a fantastic season, no one deserves it more.

Asher Hale-Bopp Joseph Arthur Hart.

Great name, don't much about him, except he played for Durham seconds.

Maybe his dad was an astronomer!

It appears he was born when it last appeared.

That's correct but I'm inclined to think his father is an eccentric more than an astronomer. Little wonder the lad chose to play his cricket hundreds of miles from home

Not sure. You'd presume so (or else he bowled two beamers within just 10 balls). Fingers crossed it's us being extra, extra cautious and nothing more. Given how many injuries we picked up early last season, the last thing we want is for that to continue this year.
