Hameed got injured and had to go off - hand injury but apparently not the one he hurt in India. Looks as if he must have come back in when the 9th wicket went down.

Yeah, if Lancs had knocked them off, then I absolutely agree that Middlesex would have been favourites for relegation. Even with this win, they are still in trouble. We all know that there will be a result at Taunton next week, and frankly I don't rate what Middlesex have to offer in the spin department. They want a result pitch like the one produced for them at Lords, that'll suit the seam attack. Not Taunton.

If we make the assumption that Leach and Bess give Somerset the points (and to be frank, I think any other assumption would relegate Somerset - unless Yorkshire lose both games, and Somerset avoid defeat this week), then it does become a right old game of musical chairs.

Surrey are fine if they win this week, and are almost certainly fine if they draw. Hampshire are fine if we win this week, and are almost certainly fine if we draw and Somerset lose. Yorkshire though should only be fine if they win, and Somerset lose.

If Somerset avoid defeat, then despite winning today Middlesex probably do just about become my favourites again - subject to Yorkshire beating Warks. But if Yorkshire lose that, then they become my favourites - and quite heavily so, if Somerset can avoid defeat. They'd be every chance of Yorkshire having to go to Chelmsford needing to win. But right now, Warks probably don't yet have enough. Another 50 runs though, and the Yorkies might be sweating. I wouldn't want my team to facing Jeetan on the final day.

I knew you'd be able to explain the possible scenarios! I tried in vain to work them out. Should be an interesting end to the season.

This is looking a bit tight. Too tight to call. It should be chaseable,, but Yorks' batting is unreliable and they are facing the best spinner in the division. One of ZBGB or Leaning has to get a fifty.
