Northants off for rain with only 9 runs required for victory

I wonder how bad the rain is?

Don't know how many overs are remaining but Hardus Viljoen has all 8 wickets to have fallen so far in the Sussex second innings.

Harry Podmore has spoiled it by getting the 9th wicket.

The three sides who went into the last game of the season a year ago playing for the title, are separated by a point at the bottom, highlighting just how unstable the CC is.

I like it that way. Keeps it from getting boring, a la premier league.

Well done to Essex. Worthy winners, and in style too, with two games in hand.

Well done to Essex, they've been easily the best side this season. It's obviously a bit gutting that we decided to put in a terrible performance when it really mattered.

it amused me that the recent review of the Essex title winning season concentrated entirely on the youth coming through. While I'm sure there is a lot of truth in that, it rather felt like the reviews from the first half of the last decade, that focused entirely on Sussex's team and work ethic, whilst singularly ignoring the 847,000 wickets taken by Mushy season, after season, after season.

Enjoy it while you still can, I don't think there is a better feeling in cricket then seeing your team lift the County Championship crown.
