I was toying with the idea of Coad for my FL team but I thought he might get very few games.

I must admit I'd never heard of him!

He played one first team game last year at, wait for it................................DURHAM.


It was in that game I heard about him on commentary and although he only took one wicket he impressed.

My memory must be getting worse!

Before yesterday I saw Ben Coad bowl in a Twenty20 Roses match on TV, he barely got above 70mph and bowled woefully.

So my reaction when he was in the starting xi and shared new ball duties with Tim Bresnan "Here we go, expecting nowt here. Hampshire are going to make hay Saturday and Sunday in the glorious sunshine and win by an innings."

Both openers dropped though, and it sounds like Coad is beating the bat on a regular basis. We could still easily be 50-3 soon.
