Still, early days.

Now he's gone. Must be one of those unplayable spells of bowling you dread coming up against.

Quite a few DIV 1 bowlers can take a bow, there's been some devastating spells so far.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Some occasional uneven bounce helped.

Hampshire's day, but the last half hour last night unbalanced the game. Still, plenty to play for.

A pair for Tim in this game.

Good effort from Patto and Broad in CC2.

Putting Bell, Trott and Barker in my FL team had a similar effect. Even Bresnan bagged a pair, compensated by his bowling though.

Some players finding they're in one of my teams avoid getting chosen to play.

Well this season with Barker you won't be guaranteed the 300+ pts he always gathers against Durham.

I must admit I'd never heard of him!

He played one first team game last year at, wait for it................................DURHAM.

It was in that game I heard about him on commentary and although he only took one wicket he impressed.

My memory must be getting worse!

Before yesterday I saw Ben Coad bowl in a Twenty20 Roses match on TV, he barely got above 70mph and bowled woefully.

So my reaction when he was in the starting xi and shared new ball duties with Tim Bresnan "Here we go, expecting nowt here. Hampshire are going to make hay Saturday and Sunday in the glorious sunshine and win by an innings."

3 balls later

"Ay up! What has Coad been doing over the winter?

After his devastating 8 over spell

"Best thing since sliced bread! He and Sidebottom are going to destroy Division 1 batting line ups!"
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

Indeed it was. I think I posted that as I had heard that the last wicket had fallen. It can literally go anywhere for Northants so didn't want to jinx it.

No early wickets for Yorks. I'm starting to sense a setback.

Both openers dropped though, and it sounds like Coad is beating the bat on a regular basis. We could still easily be 50-3 soon.
