Another all- rounder joins the Sorry ranks and more competition for Scott. He'll be back home next season if not sooner.

Would supporters want him back?

I'll be hypocritical - if we were doing better I'd have said no but given the problems I'll say yes!

Well I never had a problem with him leaving. But if they did at sometime take him back it could send out the message to other players that if you leave and it does not work out you have the safety net of returning to homely Durham.

That's a good point.

Alex Hales has just got out for 63 off 27 balls. Notts are chasing 200+ and have knocked off 94 of the runs in the first 8 overs

But didn't win. Poor result against struggling Worcs. First win for them.

True but it also gives the message that there's a risk involved in changing clubs.

Surrey annoyed that another county has poached one of their players! You couldn't make it up.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/ ... guarantees
I can't imagine Warwickshire will be impressed with Alec Stewart saying Sibley has been given a written guarantee he'll bat top 3 in every format. It's probably true but not something they'd want made public.
Warwickshire seem to be making a few signings this year - wonder what's up with their Academy!

Warks are going down so I'm surprised anyone wants to join. Sibley may have been told he'll start all competitions at 3 surely wouldn't get a guarantee to stay at 3 regardless. Looking at who will accompany Warks down surprised at how vulnerable Yorkshire are. Currently 36pts clear but all below them have a game in hand. Astonishingly, with Handscomb and Balance no longer available not one of their batsman averages 30 or more in the CC. That is a very worrying statistic. Squeaky bum time for the Yorkies!. Yet another example of how hoovering up other counties talent doesn't work.

Gravesy will buy them someone who can bail them out

failing that he'll get FTECB to relegate someone else for something

Not so sure. I get the impression the ECB are a getting a little bit fed up with Graves foolish utterances. They've been unduly harsh on Yorkshire on a number of occasions in the last year or so. Depriving them of a possible home T20 Q/F being the latest example.

County Cricket is probably the only professional sport in England where relegation is not necessarily a bad thing and gives chance teams to regroup and regain momentum. Working with a reputable coach in Ashley Giles and playing at a test venue gives budding players a platform for England selection. Surrey should be ashamed of themselves for not developing a local player, especially when scoring a double century against Yorkshire at the age of 17.

A season defining match against Essex on Sunday who will be without Cook and Westley. A lose/draw will put Yorkshire in a relegation battle, whilst a win keeps the title hopes alive.

Handscomb has done nothing of note in the Championship, except a ton against Lancashire where the match was draw bound. Marsh or Sarfraz will add that experience in the middle order. Yorkshire should be at full strength bowling wise with all bowlers fit and available, though perversely I would play Dave Willey and bat him at the top given his T20 form!

Ballance should be back for the remaining two CC matches at least, maybe all 4 if England persist with Jennings and Westley.

MDV had a pop at Sibley on twitter saying that he had given Sibley every chance this season which he has but perhaps he'd be better of finding the cause of Sibley's unrest. Surrey insist that they have a flourishing youth system but several of them are out on loan or have to go to another county or retired. What sort of measure does signing a 36 year old has been like Clarke give to aspiring youngsters?

Signing Borthwick and Stoneman can't have helped Sibley feel settled - those two were always going to fill two of the top 3 slots and Rory Burns is the other opener.
Those two signings weren't a great vote of confidence in Sibley.
