He might be coming in for the first test against India - Rocky probably has 3 more innings to try and prove himself.
In other news I see the trialist keeper Davies made 155 for the seconds yesterday.

Jennings might be in line for an ODI call up. He has made an impressive start to the RL50, and I think he had a good comp for us last year, if memory serves

there's a satisfying irony to the thought of players giving up red ball cricket, only to lose their white ball place to someone bang in form who has a lot of cricket under his belt

No room in the ODI side. Even Hales can't get in the ODI side. Can't see KJ getting a gig. No matter how much the acting Director of Cricket likes him.
I always say that everybody's right.

Might be one of Ed Smith's 'funky' selections - batting at 9 as a bowling all-rounder or in as a wicketkeeper!
When Smith got the job there were a few sarcastic tweets predicting his first team selection - they played on his obsessions with Roger Federer, Bob Dylan , wild theories and baseball.
So the line up for the first test was something like:
Cook
Stoneman
Bob Dylan(c)
Root
Roger Federer
Ed Smith
Bairstow
Pitcher for the Yankies
someone who opens the batting in county cricket
Broad
Anderson

Interesting news snippet in The Times from legsidelizzy:
ICC appoints Scotland’s Coetzer
Kyle Coetzer, the Scotland batsman who is No 22 in the one-day international rankings, has been appointed to the ICC’s cricket committee. While the governing body welcomed the services of the former Northamptonshire player, Durham, who have been struggling for runs this season, did not take up the offer to employ him despite his modest demands.

Another strange decision. It's not as if we have/had many better options.

Yep. When he was here the first time I think he wasn't quite up to it so fair enough to release him. Don't think it was acrimonious because I've seen him watching games occasionally.
Suppose the judgement would be whether he would be an improvement on what we have and I think he would be - I was quite surprised to learn he's actually ranked 22 in ODI batting. Think he's the highest ranked player from a non-test nation.
I'd say he definitely would be very handy in one day cricket.
