Won't be missed if Potts, Carse and Wood remain fit but that's a big IF.

Don't worry the new Chief Executive said he's confident they will be fine and our bowling resources are second only to Sorry!

Marty just tweeted that he understands Colly is retiring. Significantly he shook the hand of every player after the pre-match hug this morning.

According to Martin Emmerson Colly is about to announce his retirement despite the official position last night that talks were still ongoing. He must be right, can't think of any other reason for the handshakes and hugs in the morning.
I was talking to the lady who runs the bookshop at the ground and she said someone asked Colly what was going on with the handshakes and he jokingly said it was his birthday - it isn't.

I know there's not often a place for sentiment in sport but these last two matches are irrelevant really so I hope he plays them and gets a deserved send off at home...just please don't get a pair to finish!
Although if he is going why tell the players today before the game was over? That suggests to me it could be an immediate retirement. Hope not.

I wonder what he will do next? Stay at Durham in a coaching role or straight off to England?

what is stupid.... we ssiped off Benks in favour of JJB. I have always believed that he was keeping the seat warm for Colly, but that seems unlikely now

Both Benks and Colly would have been a good fit for us, but we are going to end up losing them both for a clueless chump

only at Durham :no

Take this with a pinch of salt because I don't believe it could be true but I heard two rumours today - one was they're looking at Ottis Gibson as coach and the other was Rocky is feeling out of sorts at Sorry and wants to come home.
I messaged someone who has in the past been in the know about signings and he said he had not heard anything at all about it.

Heard the Rocky one. Homesick?- he's spent the last 6 years winter in Aussie and summer travelling around England- never been home to pine for it. Having said that I'd have him in a thrice and bat him at 4. As for Ottis, his home is still in NE and he's big mates with Killa but can't see it.

I can't remember what Ottis us doing now. Is he still with the West Indies? If Colly is going even if they sign a replacement it probably will be on a lesser salary (unless it is Rocky!)and the Chief Executive suggested last night the finances look good for next year.
So in theory they may be able to offer a good salary for a big name coach. I'll be surprised if Lewis goes but that's just a hunch.

Never been sure how much authority Lewis carried or whether he was just Colly's mouthpiece. However, I'd retain whoever is responsible for recruitment. Steel, Sainsbury, Lees and Raine is pretty shrewd.

Yep. Very shrewd signings. They mentioned last night that the club was in a better place now because they're able to attract players who would have plenty of other options.
The new chief executive was recruited by Sir Ian so he probably has some major influence.

so Colly is retiring, then

big miss, I reckon.

he way ITB worded his statement suggests that we have no role for him and he's off completely, which is a terrible thing for the club

hard to believe that we let both Benks and Colly go off to pursue a coaching career somewhere else. Seems incredibly foolish

still.... we've got JJB
