I suspect Nasser and Bumble will be Itk but don't want to be openly revealing confidences so pass it on. Fairly reliable sources then.Ottis as head coach would be the surprise.

Yes, not a name I'd have thought would top the list.

I was reading a bit about James Harris the other day. He had a very similar England experience to the one Woody has just had.

He went from young prolific wicket taker with a bright future with two 40+ wicket and one 60+ CC seasons to his name, before coming onto the England radar. He toured with the lions, got injured then had his action remodelled to make him international standard.... had two disastrous seasons where he struggled to stay fit and could only buy the very occasional CC wicket at 55's, got sent out on loan, with his confidence in tatters.... until he realised that what he needed to do was forget everything england taught him and go back to exactly what he was doing before... turned himself around and took 60 odd wickets in his last championship season..... and stayed fit

Also sounds a lot like Plunkett's career too

Thank goodness for Kevin Shine.... worth every penny, that fella

Wor Nige would be an asset for Kevin Shine

Should Shiney ever wonder why his England charges were dropping like flies, Wor Nige would happily reassure him that these injuries were "just niggles.... be okay in a couple of days"

Yes, who was the bowling coach when Jimmy Anderson was told to remodel his action because his natural one would lead to stress fracture? I remember he immediately became less effective and may even have suffered a stress fracture with the new 'improved' action. Then he went back to the old one and has been going strong year after year.

A compilation of "Shineisms " by Dobell-George has got to be taking the p***. Shine is currently based at the Lougborough academy with the official title of "England's Leading fast bowling coach".

Olly Stone in Dobell's list. Whatever happened to him?
Quite amusing that the notoriously injury prone Wood was called up as a replacement for a young fast bowler who somehow managed to get injured after getting involved with England. Must just be bad luck!!

Bancroft 73 no from 235 deliveries on his return to Shield action

73 no off 235..... that's a proper openers innings

if he can do that in every game for us, we'll have a chance to post 150 at some stage during the season

I'd back Steel to do that-he values his wicket. Sydney in high summer, however, is not the Riverside in Spring but it was a rain affected day so encouraging.

he went on to carry his bat for 138 in a total of 279

Apart from Sam Whiteman (66) with whom he shared an opening stand of 119, only one other player posted a double digit score and that one was 10..... although most of them did manage to hang around for a while........ there is a lesson there, somewhere, if only I had the wit to see it

Either way, Cameron... this is good practice for what is to come.... worth getting used to it before you come over
