I wondered if signing for us was sold to him in those terms. They must have known what was running through Colly's mind

Quite possibly. Don't think he's had much experience in county cricket ( just a handful of games for Gloucestershire ?) but perhaps his 'rehabilitation' would be aided if he had to take responsibility for a team rather than just himself. Or maybe the Durham captaincy would be a further punishment for him!

He's got enough on his plate adapting to play on Riverside pitches without the added burden of captaincy.

Another huge loss. Probably a coincidence that he's going at the same time as Colly?

The rumour is Marcus North to replace him. I sincerely hope not given that he was a walking wicket the one season he was here as a batsman.

I suppose he has experience of county cricket given that he must have played for about half the teams!
What does the Director of Cricket do? Is it just a general management role? If it is a key position I'd have thought someone more senior than North would be required.

Stokes and Hales charged with bringing the game into disrepute over their shenanigans in Bristol last year. Two day disciplinary hearing in the first week of December.

Both London Evening Standard and Yorkshire Post carrying articles about North becoming Director of Cricket at Durham. Standard cock up media release by Durham with members getting the mushroom treatment.

Typical. Interesting that the Evening Standard suggests a batting coach might be coming in - let's hope it's someone competent. I could be wrong but doubt if Colly would want that job.

he would if it was England batting coach.... probably pays a lot more than Scotland head coach

I saw an article about Colly's career (can't remember where) and it mentioned him blowing most of his England riches on bad investments, so I guess the money matters

Yeah. Think he was one of a few cricketers who lost a load of money on some scheme.
