All Pretty Vacant, Down by the Riverside

Postby Durhamfootman » Fri Feb 02, 2018 3:20 pm

A message to members and fans from all of us here at DCCC

There's no point in asking
You'll get no reply
Just remember, we decide
We got no reason to keep in touch
So you'll always find us..... out to lunch

Oh we're so pretty
Oh so pretty
We're vacant
Oh we're so pretty
Oh so pretty
Vacant

Don't ask us to attend
'Cos we're not all there
We pretend to hear, but we don't care
Sod all your illusions 'cos none of it is real
So stop your cheap comments
We don't care what you feel

Oh we're so pretty
Oh so pretty
We're vacant
Oh we're so pretty
Oh so pretty
Vacant

Oh we're so pretty
Oh so pretty
Ah but now

and we don't care

please remember that you don't have to go to members meetings to be ignored.........we can also ignore you on the Twaddle, the @rsebook, on snapknackers and on instant noodles

Best regards, ITB, JJB, and the team

PS. keep sending in money......as much money as you can. As a responsible cricket club we will never waste it on bringing in new players, or ensuring ground safety, but will use it to invest in the very latest information technology. That way we will be able to ignore you even more efficiently in the future

PPS. please don't ask us to re-introduce the live match chat, or any other interactive forum, as a refusal often offends

Non communication also extended to Cricket Paper. Full page interviews with both Will Smith and JJ and they both manage to say nowt. Smith with the platitudes delighted to be back, felt he's never been away .... JJ,as ever, talks at length yet manages to say nowt other than injury prevented Potts going to the U19 WC but omits to update on the progress on his stress fracture. :sleep

Behind the times!
It's obviously great news that the ODI is very close to selling out but the glass half empty view would be that it has taken quite a while to shift tickets for the most lucrative ODI fixture so could it suggest they might struggle to fill the ground for 'lesser' opposition?
Other thing about the ODI is I wonder what happened to the investigation over that collapsed stand? I might have missed it but don't remember hearing anything about it for months.

Known colloquially as the"trapdoor" stand now, I believe. Must have got the all clear safetywise and probably
sensible to adopt least said, sooner forgotten policy.
There's no doubt that we'll struggle to sell out minor internationals which is why we're well out of staging test matches. Important factor of staging ODIs and IT20's is they help to attract and maintain ground sponsorship and advertising.

The trapdoor stand! Great name.
I agree about tests, almost guaranteed to come a cropper for all but the most high profile ones. ODI's much less risky and should bring in decent profits.

Stick a few sandbags under the stand to cushion the fall!

or a bouncy castle, perhaps?

entertain the kids and add a bit of stand safety for no extra cost... make a bit of welcome profit by charging parents a quid to let their kids have a go as they normally would, or a fiver for the newly styled 'jeopardy drop'
