Typical. If they had any honour the payments would now go to counties and the arrears should also be paid for every year they have been secretly collecting the money.

Despite the delicious irony of Surrey complaining about lack of money, Stewart makes very valid case.... and it needs to be someone like Stewart because FTECB would just plain ignore protestations from counties like Durham. I reckon the IPL compensation has always been redistributed to the counties.......... probably through the Graves Family Trust ;)

Pleasing vibes from McCarthy who implies that internationals calls won't prevent him turning out regularly for Durham.

He seems very promising and must be full of confidence after his success in the ODI's. Hopefully he can be a major threat in all 3 competitions.

Steel and McCarthy miss out. Steel is "poorly"-euphinism. JJ hinted in the match preview that Smith would open with Markram. Needless to say we're batting.

FTECB like this, of course. They much prefer fringe England players to gain lots of T20 experience by sitting on their backsides in India, than preparing for the test summer ahead by playing county cricket.

Of course, FTECB don't get compensated for players playing in the CC, but do get compensated for players playing not playing in the IPL

can never have enough money rolling in

More sad news from another game - Jennings out for 2.
