Not too bad in terms of ODI's over the next few years http://www.durhamccc.co.uk/news-and-med ... l-cricket/
An annual ODI against decent opposition should be fine!

not surprising given that no-one turns up for T20 at the riverside unless it's on a Friday night

Signed Aiden Markram the young South African opening batsmen for first block of championship cricket. Latham back for start of one day season

Decent stats but so had Cook!
Latham must have asked for a break as he's not playing IPL and Kiwis have no commitments afaik.

Agree I think he has looked at that first block of championship matches and thought "I think I will put my feet up for a month"

Ironically I think Markram was the one who replaced Cook in the SA test team. Could be on a hiding to nothing playing early season with no experience but he must be highly rated by SA because he was stand-in captain during their recent one day games against India.

What a surprise - another injury worry for Wood.

Interesting that the DurhamCCC article on the Markram signing hints we might make additional signings for the T20. Would only be 1 official overseas slot remaining with Latham playing.

Lewis mentioning the possibility of a 3rd overseas signing :

With Markram & Latham having penned deals, Lewis is now turning his attention to other areas of the squad & did not rule out the possibility of a third overseas signing.

“We’re still looking at the option of a second player for the T20 competition and the period after that finishes, there’s a lot of Championship cricket to be played after that. Whether that be one player who could fulfil both of those roles or two different players, we’re in discussions with a few players at the moment and hopefully we can get something across the line in the next few weeks,” he said.

I don't understand this - might be me just mis-reading it but why is he talking about the period after T20? A second overseas player for T20 is worth considering but if he's also talking about the Championship cricket after it then it must mean Latham won't be available for those games ?

Latham left early last year, as I recall, so perhaps that was to rest ahead of NZ's summer campaign and Lewis thinks that may happen again?
