That's a good call. Might well be what he means. Maybe get Cooky back?!

"Durham head coach Jon Lewis was pleased to cover Durham’s overseas spot until mid-August – and hopes to quickly secure another name through to the end of the season."
So Latham misses the 1st 4 CC games and the last 6-so he plays 4.I think I'd be telling him thanks but no thanks.
I see Lewis' communication skills haven't improved-he's very unclear as to what we're looking for to cover after mid-August. That's could be because he hasn't got a clue himself.

I didn't read the first paragraph! Yes, all seems to be a bit of a muddle -NZ must have added some fixtures during the latter stages of our season because I thought Latham was going to be available all season.

didn't we all?

seems that all season means T20 and One day cup, with a couple of first class matches sandwiched in between

I'd be throwing money at Morne Morkel to come here

So would I. According to The Times the early favourites to sign him are Sorry ( surprise surprise ) and Yorkshire.

yet both have their full complement of OS players. Surrey have MMarsh for the whole season and Yorks have Pujara and Williamson on a half season each

still......... money talks, so doubtless there will be a way to sign him, that I haven't thought of.... being a bit dim and all

Times article suggests he will qualify as a Kolpak and claims there may be a few more signing those deals before Brexit because it's not clear if the Kolpak qualification will still apply post-Brexit.

Ah..... of course.... he'll finish the series against Australia, retire from international cricket and become a kolpak... a homeless person... of no fixed abode... with no nationality to speak of.... poor lamb!

I have to say Iam not to impressed with this Latham situation. I thought the whole point of signing him was that he was available for the complete season, it would be interesting to know when the club found out that he actually only wants to play about a third of the season and mainly the one day stuff. The press release makes it sound as if they have just signed both Latham and the Saffer opening bat. I feel that locum overseas rarely work out especially at Durham.

Yeah, Latham hit the ground running last year but he had experience of English conditions. It's likely to be very difficult for a batsman to make a big impact in just a few games. I know I'm probably in the minority but if Stephen Cook was interested in returning I'd have gone for him - suspect he'd do well now he knows what to expect!

I just can't work out why we are forking out money for an opening bat for the first 4 matches. All that money for a string of first ballers and first overs. We should be signing a big, bouncy, snarly fast bowler. Pattinson took about a hundred wickets for Notts in their first 4 matches last year, and after that everyone spent the rest of the season just trying to close the gap

makes no sense to me
