Away to Leicestershire this week and then the swansong at home against Middlesex. Let's hope there are no disasters such as a washout or a pair!

Warm but windy Tues/Wed. with spells of rain on Thurs/Fri. Surely we have to insert with a 10.30 autumnal start. Pringle or Trevaskis for Patel and I'd play McCarthy as 3rd seamer even though he's leaving. Any other changes?

I think Martin Emmerson said McCarthy picked up an injury ahead of the start last week so he might not be fit.
I'd have another look at Davies and possibly another second teamer but have a feeling they won't.
If ( by some miracle ) Wood is fit I'd have him in - 2 games in 2 weeks would test him.

Central and white ball contracts announcement is imminent so Wood's future will become clearer. No mention of him at the forum?

I think there might have been mention of him in passing but I don't remember what Lewis said. If he doesn't get a white ball contract it will be very tricky - with Colly going there will be money for a big player ( the earlier signings seem to have been affordable because FTECB have loosened the purse strings going by what the CE said ) so Colly's wages should be free but they surely couldn't risk a lucrative contract for Woody with no England deal.Or could they?!

Woody has still a year left on his 3 year Durham contract which has been financed mainly by ECB for the last 2 seasons.

Ah right. I didn't realise that. The World Cup could be crucial and a good test for him. It must though be getting close to decision time for him - the chances of him having a career as an all format player must be pretty much zero by now.

Martin Emmerson says he thinks we'll bring in a big name signing to replace Colly. Don't know if he's just assuming we will or has been tipped off.

Tip off I would think.

Do we take this heading literally? Couldn't find a better man imo.

He'd certainly lead by example and give his all and there aren't any obvious candidates in the squad with the likes of Steel and Lees probably better off concentrating purely on batting for now and others not certain of their place in the team.
It'll be a tricky job because the tactical side will be crucial given we won't be scoring 400 plus! Perhaps the replacement for Colly will be a candidate. If not , despite my misgivings , I suspect it will be Lees and Steel splitting the job.

Headline is " Rushworth ready to step into Collingwood's shoes at Durham."
Text of the article is about his role as senior player and the captaincy isn't mentioned. Probably will be an option though.
Durhamfootman wrote:we don't think Bancroft?

Could do but he might want to focus on his batting and it also could be seen as a controversial one given he is being 'rehabilitated'. Wouldn't be regarded as controversial by me however so if he wanted to do it I'd let him. That way the longer-term candidates can focus on their own games.
