Got this response.
"We'll be doing an overseas update soon; however it won't be to the extent of last year! Pretty much all of our lads are staying here for this winter"
I wonder if they're staying here by choice or haven't been able to find a team?
Could be that the new DoC wants the whole squad here to make a complete assessment of the entire playing staff. Fair enough but that could be completed by Chistmas enabling players to go overseas in the new year. Winter training appeared to be lacking in numbers last year.
Yep, should be able to have both the assssment and then overseas games in the new year.

Hmm... puzzled
our very own Sister has remained at the club, which I assumed meant he wasn't interested in playing for Ireland, because otherwise he would have to become an overseas player.......... yet he is off to India with Ireland in December for training and batting practice against spin
can someone explain to me how this works, because I don't get it at all

Possibly could be that Irishmen contracted to a county won't be considered "overseas" until their current contract has expired?

I think that's it. At the last forum Lewis said McCarthy could only stay on if he was signed as an overseas player, so his contract must have been up for renewal.
Or maybe his contract was up and he could just have signed for one more year but either one or both parties thought it wasn't worth it.

3 up, 1 down next season. Never have a better chance of promotion. No change in the toss rule apparently -doesn't even appear to have been discussed.

It's strange that the no toss rule seems to be sacrosanct even though I don't think it's popular with the counties.
It'll be interesting to see how this seeding system is worked out!

they are still hell bent on not playing championship cricket in the summer, with the one day cup scheduled to be played in July and August.
They really are as thick as pig *modded*. The 100 offers them the chance to play county championship throughout the summer and the T20 cup every friday night..... and they don't take it
mind boggling

FTECB have more important things to do - banning the overseas players from the one day cup!

Gordon Hollins, ECB chief operating officer, said: “It was important that the process took in the views of all the stakeholders in the domestic game"
Certainly don't recall spectators being asked for their views which is FTECB admittance of exactly how important they consider and respect our opinions.
And Gordon Hollins was one of the few at FTECB that I had any respect for!

You mean "cocked up by FTECB".

BBC are reporting the McCarthy exit. They are saying that Sept 2019 is the date where Ireland players have to become overseas players. Presumably that's why the Sister is still with us.
They are also reporting that Gareth Harte and Ben Whitehead have signed new 2 year deals

I think there's some promise in those two. If Harte had just made the one hundred I might have dismissed it as a fluke but the second one at the end of the end of the season was very encouraging.
