Yeah I've got no complaints about our batting. If anything, we didn't bat for long enough, rather than batting on too long.

Our lead wasn't big enough to win by an innings, so we always needed extra runs to win the match. So much more sense to try and get them whilst we were still out there in our first innings.

It's the exact same story as last year with the pink ball: can't get a wicket with it after about 10 overs, can't hit the ball off the square, so just bowl everything dead straight and see the game go nowhere.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Lancs will be without Mennie tomorrow, due to the concussion he suffered against Worcs. Although we're resting Steyn, so that somewhat evens things up - both sides without their oversears seamer.

That's in addition to no Livingstone, Parkinson, Buttler and Anderson for them, and Dawson, Crane and Taylor for us. Rilee is back after losing his teeth in the SF, so will presumably be a straight switch for Steyn. Back to a more normal looking five-man bowling attack.

Bailey and Fidel on either side are the joint-highest wicket takers in the division I believe.

Easily our most important four-day match of the season so far.

No Chanderpaul either having to fly home for personal reasons.

Why did play start an hour late? I refuse to believe there was any rain around.

I see that the first class records of Vince and Northeast are remarkably similar.

Because of the ODI yesterday. So no time lost.

Vince gets out and the pace of the innings slows to a crawl.

Probably won't get more than 3 batting points at this rate, unless someone can come in and score a quickfire fifty. We should have been looking at five around an hour or so ago.

Must admit I did think about the ODI then I thought what difference does an hour make!

Our innings is slowly going to crap.

Indeed it is. But then again, we are playing on the pitch that Australia could only make 200 on, and England needed a wonder innings - and almost all of the 50 overs - to chase it down.

Different format, different ball, I get that. But it does suggest that we're not batting on a flat paradise. Maybe, a bit like Buttler, Vince's innings will prove to be a world above what anyone else can do.

Let's hope you're right, although Holland and Roussow are putting a decent partnership together now.

Since the thrashing that Broad and Co handed us in early May, Rilee's run of red ball scores reads 38, 65*, 46, 39*, 54*.

Signs that he's finally starting to crack it.

Unfortunately his white ball scores seem to have gone the other way.

Two targets this morning, first is a fourth batting point and the second is 400.

A fine 24 ball duck from Rayner.

Really slow going this morning, the fourth batting point looks unlikely. Maybe this pitch is still as tough as the ODI suggested it was.

First target missed, onto the second.

At least we stopped Lancs getting a third bowling point.

At last Roussow scores his maiden first class hundred for Hants.

Considering his FC record it should have come alot sooner.

Ploughing nicely past 400 now, Abbott is a very competent number 10!
