I make that our fourth match of the season that has gone to the last ball.

Our record reads three losses and one tie.

That's Essex's 6th match. So they're one match away from being half way through.

Yes there is a time for both of us. But both our NRR's are awful, and we both effectively need to make up a two game gap from the top four (we literally do, being three points behind; Essex effectively do, being two points behind and having played a game more).

The South group is traditionally very difficult to get out of. Often everyone is in there fighting, aside from Middlesex. So it's very difficult to put a series of wins together. And it's putting such a series together that us and Essex both need. All of us will continue to drop more points, including us and Essex.

I'm pretty sure it's a superover in the IPL group stages, I might be wrong.

I think it is pretty much all across the world. But not here.

We don't even have super overs in the KO stages (unless the innings have been uneven in length, due to rain intervening).

Steyn has been left out of SA's limited overs squad. So assuming that remains the case - and the Cricket SA do not insist on him resting - he'll be available to take straight over from Munro.

Munro has three more matches for us (all away) before leaving to play in the Caribbean PL. Thus Steyn will feature in six, plus any KO matches should we qualify.

Probably not a bad week for us.

Worcs stay below us. Lancs are move just one point ahead of us, having played a game more. Yorks and Essex both just one win ahead of us. Surrey (who we have already played twice) continue to squash all challengers.

On the flip side to some of our matches, this is what happens when you don't lose early wickets when batting at 100 miles an hour.

Stupid from Northeast. Munro and Rilee are regularly headless chickens, but Northeast should have been the glue to see us home; just ticking the scoreboard along.

Instead, Middlesex are one more quick wicket away from probably having this. We do have a bit of a tail, without Berg or Abbott - not that you should need your lower order in t20.

If anyone didn't understand how badly we rely on our top order in white ball cricket, just look at this game.

Even in a season where we won the one-day cup, our middle order is so, so bad.

Time to give the gloves to Alsop, and ditch McManus. Maybe forever. Not good enough for any format. (And an average keeper at best. At least Bates could keep.)

the form of Vince has to be a big factor. In other years he has been both outstanding and utterly reliable

This year he's spent time being *modded* about by working with England so it was bound to happen
