Can't understand why he isn't playing, why sign him on loan til the end of the season? He can't be worse than Weatherley or Soames.

Yorkshire have already got plenty.

It might be that we've already made the decision to start Donald next season, so we're using these final games as a shoot-out between Weatherley or Soames to see who (if either) partners him. I doubt both would still be in the team if we needed the points. (Similarly we wouldn't have let Rilee finish his season early, and not return from SA post the birth of his child.)

I'm relaxed about giving a chance to lesser players when there's nothing on the line. It's not like we're often in this position!

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

At 163/8 currently we look on course for zero batting bonus points in our last five games.

Final analysis for batting points this season 16/70 ...compared to Surrey's 41. :no

Yep, by far the worst in the division.

Our bowling attack was always going to be the key to our survival.

Not sure what's what with contracts and the like, but I imagine our bowling department will be weaker next season. Even with the signing of Donald I can't see our batting being any better. Can't get much worse mind!

Perhaps Brendy can give us an insight into our expectations next summer?

Feeling quite sorry for Lancs (being married to a Blackpool girl!) . It would have been good for them to get to 300 (and then win ) and so beat Notts by 1 point.

The old excuse will be trotted out again.......it's been a bowler's summer!

Doesn't make sense when you think how good the weather has been.

Don't know who's responsible for bringing through the youth at Hants, but it just doesn't happen any more, there's been such a dearth of talent in recent years we have to rely on overseas and kolpak.

If I was Lancs I'd bat as per the rest of the season and lose the game from here, nothing worse than finishing on the same number of points as third from bottom.

Interesting to note that Lancs scored more batting and bowling points than us and Worcs scored more batting points and were level on bowling.

I guess it shows our performance improves as a game goes on, at least in comparison to Lancs and Worcs.

20 of the first over!

Fireman Sam hits five fours in a row off Abbott.

Game over.

Adams last game, his career ended in a whimper.

Wonder who the top three will be at the start of next season?

I see Keith Barker is signing for you.

I was at the Riverside last night - Colly giving his farewells and he said he thinks the batch of Duke balls this year are the reason for low scoring games rather than pitches or the weather.

I seem to remember that theory being aired by one of the sky pundits recently.

Have the manufacturers commented?

What does a bad batch mean? Every ball made this year?

Surely every ball is made in exactly the same way with exactly the same materials. Maybe the weather has affected the cork tree in some way or the leather has come from a different breed of cow?!

All seems a bit far fetched, and another excuse for bad batting!
