Typical two games at home started in overcast conditions and the one away game starts with a scorcher.

Bloody uncontested toss bollox.

Northeast has gone south, and Berg's baby is still on ice?

Blimey we somehow got to the rain delay without losing a wicket.

Been raining here for an hour or so, weather looking bleak for the rest of the day, so that could be it.

Looks like today and tomorrow we'll get some play albeit in overcast conditions.

With Monday looking like a washout it seems like it will be a battle for bonus points in an odds on draw.

Bloody hell what a rollercoaster finish to the season, 2-0 up at half time, needing to match Dartford's result (with two goals in hand), then Dartford go 2-0 up at Bognor, and H&W then concede two second half goals to go 2-2. Dartford are going up with a few minutes to go and then Jason Prior scores the winner, to send H&W into the National League prem, and one step away from the EFL. Back to back promotions, will you get back to Westleigh Park next season Mark?

In the other not so big game in the south, Southampton get the better of us again. I'm not overly disappointed as the prem needed an interest injection, and now there is plenty to play for to avoid finishing third from bottom. Obviously we're 99.9% safe due to the number of teams in the mix and the remaining fixture list.

A very decent batting performance so far in tricky over head conditions after being put in. Shame we won't get the chance to push for a possible win.

Off for bad light currently, with the weather looking bleak tomorrow this could be the second game out of three where Essex don't get to bat at all.

if only there was a way to minimise the risk of poor weather..... :hmmm

beyond me, of course. I can't think of a single way to help give championship cricket a fighting chance

Giving the umpires control over when to come off for light doesn't help.

Sounds like we were to happy to carry on batting yesterday and today (and surely Essex would have been too, given that they've got the ball moving and - at a minimum - having bonus points to try and gather).

Forecast for today has improved, looks like we may get a fair bit of play.

And it looks like we might get skittled.

Second new ball has done the trick for Essex, hopefully we can do the same when Essex go in and we can pick up a couple of bowling bonus points, hopefully in addition to 3 batting?!

I'm assuming we'll declare when we hit 300.
