Definite signs of improvement of late. And we seem to do much better when batting first.

Good. I think Carse in particular has been a big miss - has the makings of becoming a good all-rounder.

He's captaining 2nds but not bowling and I think he might well be advised to focus solely on his batting for a period. Though the same about Paul Cashin last season before he deserted.

Yeah. I think focus on batting would be a good idea too.i suppose the one good thing about Cashin's departure is we dint have to out up with his dreadful T20 bowling and captaincy!

There are some interesting bowling figures in the second X1 game - Gavin Main conceding 7 wides and 6 no balls in 4 overs but the model of economy compared to William Angus ( think that's the name - he's listed as being in the Academy in the yearbook) with 10 no balls and a wide in 2 overs! In the yearbook he says his worst moment in cricket was missing half a season with a stress fracture - sounds ominous!

And Ryan Davies getting a 3 ball duck after signing a pro deal on the back of a series of big scores!
S Steel with a century batting down the order. Who is he?

Scott Steel, quite prolific with Academy last year, his father a very good club cricketer. Now with Burnopfield under Breese's mentoring. Difficult to understand how Main was retained in preference to Hickey or Arshad.

Thanks. He's probably doing well because of Breese's input, Gareth working with the England women's team must suggest he is highly rated as a coach.
It does seem strange , Main has been around for a while without showing signs of developing into a first team player- Arshad & Hickey would have been better bets especially as we have such a small squad with lots of inexperience.
