I would hope that nothing has changed in the production line and it's just unfortunate that at the moment nothing is coming through in the seam bowling department. Maybe they have been active in trying to recruit an established seamer but haven't been able to land one -there's not exactly a surplus of them. It can't help though that the captain, CEO and chairman's sole focus isn't Durham. The fitness record of our seam bowlers is disgraceful and that's got to be the responsibility of the fitness staff. It's beyond the joke we've been making of it.

We already had an established seamer - Onions - and with a tiny squad, already decimated by younger players jumping ship, we decided that this was the time to play silly buggers, and lost him. Now we've got a lesser seamer of similar age, and a loanee from Essex attempting to fill the self inflicted hole. I have sympathy with the club as teams picked up Stoneman, Borthwick, Jennings and Coughlin as our problems snowballed, but this seemed a terrible decision at the time, and it still does.

We can't compete financially with the likes of Surrey and Lancs I'm afraid and we have to accept that.We have to recruit in the bargain basement and we're seeing how risky that is.

It's a very tricky situation. Apart from the overseas player slot only Colly and Rushy have a track record of being top players - one of them is over 40 and the other hasn't been in top form for a couple of years. The other experienced players in the squad don't have career stats that suggest they'll do anything out of the ordinary. All of this puts a huge amount of pressure on the younger players and I can't see it working - anyone who does stand out will be in the shop window for other teams.

Finances obviously are the key problem, I just wonder if he have probably looked at the Kolpak market - all of the departures must have freed up some cash and other second division teams have managed to sign players with very good FC stats. Heino Kuhn at Kent has a FC average of 43 ( batting at 3 for Kent as a specialist batsman he must also be keeper - 342 catches in FC cricket.) Colin Ackermanm at Leicestershire averages 42. Hardus Viljoen at Derby has a bowling average of 27. And they're just the ones I looked up because we've played those teams this year so there must be others.

And if that doesn't go to plan it'll be the T20 :scared I suppose the addition of Tom Latham and the omission of Coggers helps but it still has all the makings of a fiasco!

Wood finally has taken a wicket but Colly has the only other one so far. Another 400 plus score could be on the cards.

Another wicket for Colly. Rimmington has only bowled 13 overs and I guess most if not all of them were from yesterday so there must be an injury or illness - unless Colly has seen enough of him!

He's not been on the field all morning according to Martin Emmerson.

With Colly having to bowl more overs than expected there must be a fair to good chance he'll either aggravate the injury that prevented him bowling last week or pick up a new one!

427 all out. Must be a good pitch so we should easily get a first innings lead. ;)
