I have a feeling we might not get any play. Not sure what state the ground is in with the weeks of awful weather but forecast suggests more rain tomorrow and on Sunday afternoon. My hunch is that even if it suddenly stops raining we might struggle to get any play.

Tweet from @DurhamCricket on Markram arrival. Technically he could play v DCCU as teams haven't been declared.

Prospects for the day remain slim but umpires will inspect every hour.

Looks as if there might be some rain after lunch tomorrow so best case scenario might be a few hours of play!

Any reason why they can't arrange a 3 day friendly between the two starting on Monday?. Warm, fine weather forecast.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Would seem the most sensible thing to do - so no chance of them doing it!

no chance at all.... and they'll blame a terrible start to the campaign next week on the weather

probably find that the students have exams next week

Finally underway. Lost the toss and are bowling. The BBC card has Richardson as wk but Poynter is also playing.
Unless the beeb have made an error it's very odd.

On second thoughts it makes sense ! If they're going to have Richardson as keeper /batsman and leave out Poynter for Markram.

No wickets in almost an hour against substandard opposition is not exactly a promising start!

50 partnership and already one of my predictions has gone wrong - I assumed we'd have a couple of hours bowling and then bat the rest of the day. :horse
