A blitz from Weighell and Kent need 93. Could a miracle be on the cards? Almost certainly not but at least the team is taking shape for the next match.
1. Weighell
2. Rimmington
3.Potts

33-1 now so that should be game over.

And there it is. 9 wicket defeat before tea on the second day that would have been an innings defeat before lunch were it not for the bowlers batting!
A great start.

Yes, that's a bit of a disaster.

Might get Wood and Stokes at some point.

Hopefully.
Next Championship games are away at Northants, at home to Leicestershire and away at Derbyshire. If we don't win them it really will suggest a shocking season is on the cards ...and that's before we turn our attention to the white ball games.

Looking at the card - Rimmington, Potts and Weighell scored 42 out of the first innings total of 91 and 145 out of the second innings total of 170!
I suppose the glass half full take is that the lower order is pretty good so if the top 7 get runs we should post decent scores.

I wonder if they do any post-game interviews? Must do I suppose but The Northern Echo and Journal/Chronicle are not sending reporters to the home games and are relying on outside reports. Maybe those reports take a little more time to come out.

Career best for their overseas and the most disastrous debut batting performance in the history of county cricket from ours!

Even Emmerson doesn't seem to be doing his end of day / game interviews.
He did tweet this afternoon about Rimmington being unlucky not to dismiss Kuhn- apparently there were 4 edges, 3 that could have gone onto the stumps and the other one was dropped in the slips. No prizes for guessing who put it down ( although Martin did say it was a touch chance.)

There are some comments from Lewis on the BBC live blog , for some reason I can't copy & paste them but he basically says lack of preparation for the batsman because of the poor weather was to blame and they are going to work on the "mental" side of batting this week.

poor preparation is certainly true, but he presumably arranges the preparation. Perhaps he was just unfortunate..... the chances of it raining in March were probably fairly remote.

Perhaps while we are helping Big Ottis and Benks to develop test players for SA by providing them with a taster of the challenging conditions they'll need to learn how to overcome later in their careers, CSA can reciprocate and help us to organise some pre season warm up's in South Africa where it might not rain quite so much

I'm trying to remember how many years it has been since we had any warm up matches at all (apart from the Uni game), but sadly my brain doesn't go that far back.

We used to complain that our only pre season match involved us skittling the students for 19. Nowadays they retire themselves out when they get to 76 and then sportingly declare to give us a chance to have a bat

I suppose the weather has been even worse than usual so they've had days when it wasn't raining but the grounds were too wet to play but if pre-season practice is as important as Lewis says it is then he should have arranged to go abroad somewhere where play is virtually guaranteed.
The problem now is that the batsmen still haven't had any match practice because they spent so little time batting in this disastrous match.

Reliable poster on RTG claiming Potts is out long term with a stress fracture of the back. If true we're, with McCarthy, down to our last 4 fit bowlers already.
