104/6 with 4 overs to go and no one other than Smith (36) with a half decent score. Marvellous! :horse

Yeah. That would be the sensible thing to do...so same lineup torrid then!

tomorrow not torrid! Although torrid might be the right description.

An 8 wicket defeat to club cricketers is a fine start to the T20 season. :facepalm

NYSD select probably a decent standard to be fair so hardly a shock defeat. Tahir, Harte, Salisbury and Richardson if fit would strengthen the team. Proof yet again that the side needs an injection of quality before becoming completely demoralised.

Yep. Let's hope the rumoured signing Martin Emmerson referred to is someone of good quality for the rest of the season and beyond and not just Tahir's replacement for the second half of the T20's. It'll have to be a Kolpak type signing.

Yep! 99.9% certain that the signing Emmerson referred to will be a Tahir replacement - and it'll probably be another " who the hell is he?" type!

probably since 2010, actually

the CC and 50 over trophies were just very pleasant surprises in spite of an underwhelming sea of mediocre 'big name' signings

Just to add a bit of perspective, the South Yorkshire Premier League beat Yorkshire tonight by 7 wickets in a T20 friendly.

Not too bad for us then. I must admit to not knowing much at all about league cricket so have no idea of the standard. With those two results tonight there must be some more than useful players involved in the leagues. Given our dire straits we hopefully have some decent scouts out and about.

Often thought that there's better in the league for T20. Reckon Gary Bridge is a better spinner than anything we have for starters.Killa reckons "we don't miss much".

It should be looked at. An unknown player of good ability could have a big impact in T20 - opposition teams won't be able to make plans against players they don't know.

The T20 preview on cricinfo includes a one word description for each team - eg Derbyshire are " underrated". Durham are "bereft." An apt description imo. Still, let us hope they prove us all wrong.
